I just joined the F150 club last week. Was working fine until the other and black screens. I have searched hours…tried all the usual fixes with no luck. Soft reset, pulled fuse #32 in pass compartment for 20min… Now, when I turn on the truck on the Nav loads on half the screen and no Sync interface or Sync anything loads. It started with the black screen, running version 2.0.16074. I logged into the Ford sync updated and it told me to update to version 3.0.19205 so I did. I tried wifi, that took hours so I got a thumb drive, and this is where I might have screwed up… So I plugged in the 64gb thumb drive and waited for like 45min with truck idling…no notification on screen, key cycled…and now the Ford updater site showed me having 3.0.19205 instead of 2.0.16074. So, I did key cycles, nothing. Soft reset from half nav screen showing…screen went black and wouldn’t come on until key cycle again. I can’t Master Reset it since the Sync doesn’t load at all and has no buttons to select. Truck still shows in Ford pass and starts/locks/etc. Is my APIM bricked or what? Thanks!

No error. Just the nav map on half the screen, and the screen is unresponsive. No SYNC functionality at all, buttons, outside temp, climate settings, no idea what source or volume level is…
Fordpass connects to the TCU, not the APIM.
Try pulling the battery cable for 30 minutes to force a cold boot of all the modules, if this doesn’t work my guess would be screen or APIM.
I would recommend getting a copy of ForScan and an OBDLink EX to see if the APIM is throwing any DTCs.
I see. I left the battery off for 20ish minutes and still the same thing. Screen is on, right half is blank blue, left half is map with current location and moves as I drive. I just can’t interact with the screen. There are absolutely zero SYNC related function displayed on the screen as well. It doesn’t even tell me what my current outside temp is, what temp my climate controls are set to, and nothing about what volume, source or anything.
Next step is to attempt the CYANLabs updater if that even does anything. I’m just dumbfounded how the Ford official update process did this.
I do have that file that the system puts onto the USB drive that you’re supposed to upload to the Ford update site, does that provide any useful information?
I’ve finally decided to try the Syn3 Updater and it’s currently extracting Gracenotes package as I type this.

I’ve still not been able to find any posts on the web with my exact problem…the map on half screen and nothing on right half with no Sync functionality at all.
Well, all seems working with Sync 3 ver 3.4.23188.
I had to use the Syn3 Updater because my system needed a reformat as my best guess it was corrupted somehow during the official USB update from Ford.
Everything seems to working so far. Forgot to test voice will do later.
I thought ambient lighting wasn’t working, but I figured out that the headlights / parking need to be on for those to work.
I did do the master reset after it first turned on, per the instructions!
I’m so frickin happy I didn’t brick it.
Must have gotten corrupted during an install, the reformat is what I believe to be the cure.
