Another PKG_ERR04: downgrade, rewrite (23188) and upgrade

Hey. I have a big issue and cant figure out what i am doing wrong.

This unit is 8gb and is retrofitted from sync2. Made upgrade (actually rewriting over 23188) to 23188 with forced reformat style and in the middle of updating i needed to delete enhdab and gracenote lines from reformat file. After that all was ok. Did not installed later gracenote.

Now im trying to update to the latest. When autoinstall then “updating …” but actually nothing happens - when using downgrade or same version it still the same " updating "but nothing even 2 hrs later. When using reformat style i will get pkg err04 now, even trying to dowgrade or owerwrite to the same version, same error pkg err04. Why packages /files revoked?? So i am stuck :). Basically this error pops up within one minute after inserting usb thumb. All verison what i have tried made syncupdater and have tried different thumbs.

PS: used RW cleaner also.

PPS: i know it has low of memory, so i wasnt lucky to install gracenote earlier and right now cannot install it anymore cos memory. Mem err03. :slight_smile:

PPPS: does anyone know, is music on USB thumb and gracenote and voice commands somehow connected cos right now voice commands choosing music from USB does not work. The lady does not understand nothing what i am asking (all tags are correct and b4 reinstall 23188 the lady was much understandable).

So, i remembered about Universal Formatting tool from Fmod and it worked.

Installed new version but yeah still no gracenote. Got error and removed lines enh_dab and gracenote. Then installing went well. But checked about free space onlu 1011M. Not enough. Tried to install GN but failed.

Ill try. Yesterday, i made one weird thing. Looked at smaller GN but did not noticed that i downloaded 3.3 app file not GN file and installed it just changed ver no in autoinstall and also file name. I was surprised when it started to work and all was so strange how it looks like. Then, wow, version 3.3.1xx and no GN. Tht means i downgraded it without any issue.:smiley: . Ill let the system deal with my USB thumb today, it has 33884 songs on it and then try how voice commands will work.

Sync will not index that many songs at once and will need to constant re-index when you insert the USB or try to play a song from the USB. The max item count is like 10,000. I know I’ve gone over this before and the USB would not even show up. Also, use NTFS for audio USB’s, not Exfat or Fat. This is specified by Ford.

Sync2 is pain in *ss. Manual says 30K is limit but if u have more than 10K problems starting. U never know when it will index all or more like about half of them. My unit has magic +/- 13K. Max what i got was 27 xxx thousand but real number was like +500. So probably it counting folders and subfolders too. I tried to make USB thumb where all object were almost 30K together but yeah it was lottery. Sync 3 is easy. about 1-2 min it ewill say how many songs u have. and then it will take time indexing and building voice commands. All time when i change smth sync 3 gives correct amount not like sync2. I have 256gb thumb what is almost full right now tht means 33,8K right now. Maybe i gonan take 512Gb stick and will check how it works when im close to limits 50K for sync3.

Also to note here is that Sync 2 is really about 5000. I have never heard of anyone getting more than 10,000 on Sync at all, but I’m sure someone was successful. On Sync 3.4 you could run the RWData cleaner, the -BB version, and clean out the RWData cache. This seems to help but is probably not the real solution.

So here is one latest try when i got correct file number b4 i changed it to sync3 unit. I have used rw cleaner many times. Rite now, the sync lady is alive and in normal condition. She is listening you and will put play what you want. Like usually sometimes she is not so kind and dont understand what u really want but at least she giving you some choice :D. Ok i know i have some accent, not scottish one but i have some. LOL.

The cleaner is for Sync 3. It will do nothing for Sync 2.

So i use it only for sync3, but it does not help anything on this line /fs/images/ = 1011M / 3.0G.

Basically, i have or had bunch of files before cleaning and after cleaning to monitor whats going to happen. :slight_smile:

Now i installed Fingerprint app too, whis is one good app giving live info about your APIM (on the sync screen), cpu inf including temperature and also all info about storage and etc.

I have another question for you if i may.

Upgrading to 3.4.23188 no navy units lost clock. Actually when ignition is on clock is correct but when ignition is off then it starting to show its own time. 2 cars with originally equipped with sync3 and also retrofitted one. The last one has thing. When the time goes incorrect then using vol knob it goes back to normal but only when ignition was on b4. When you sittin into car and u put radio to work, clock is wrong until ignition is on. All three cars, testing settings showing, Satellite position, satellite signal and satellite history. Even car location is presented but when you trying to reset Clock to the satellite time it says GPS data not available. Try later.

Have been looking solution for this long time but no luck. Basically it sounds like 3.4 23188 has bug so latest as well. Maybe u know some things to do. Ah yeah. When i downgraded suddenly retrofitted unit to 3.3xxx, clock problem was gone. And one more thing, no error codes.
