Black Screen - No Audio - No Backup Camera - No Life

I have a 2017 F150 with an 8" screen that was running 3.0.20204. After creating the usb drive I started my truck with the usb plugged in and it updating software in the top left screen and about 10-20 seconds it said update complete, remove the drive and that it was going to reboot. Then after the message just a black screen. Note I didn’t remove the usb drive I left it in there and left the truck running. I checked back in about 15 min and still black screen. Now I have tried the soft reboot, took out the fuse, disconnected the battery but nothing seems to have helped. I opened I got the below info from FORScan I don’t know if that will help. Is there anything I can do? Thank yoiu in advance.

If only you would had checked…

That information is wrong

This APIM is MY20, and you just killed it by reformatting it with Syn3updater.

Your options are limited:

I searched online and AI gave me the below info.

No, the JS7T-14G371-JHG module is not a MY20 (Model Year 2020) hardware unit.

The “JS7T” prefix indicates that this part was engineered and manufactured for the 2018 model year. It features Gen 3 / non-MY20 internal hardware.

Why This Classification Matters

Knowing that your module is a pre-MY20 unit is incredibly critical if you are planning to modify or update its software using tools like CyanLabs Syn3 Updater:

  • Safe for Reformatting: Because this is a standard Gen 3 / pre-MY20 APIM, it is safe to use the CyanLabs “Reformat” utility to completely overwrite and upgrade the software (e.g., jumping from Sync 3.0 up to Sync 3.4).

  • The MY20 Danger: True MY20+ units (typically starting with prefix codes like KS7T, LN1T, LU5T, or 5U5T) use a different eMMC flash memory chip layout. Running a reformat tool on a true MY20 unit permanently destroys (“bricks”) the module beyond repair. Since yours is a JS7T, you do not face this structural restriction.

Ok then, it seems you value AI over human knowledge and experience(*), no need to keep this thread open then, you can ask the AI how to fix your issue.

:locked:

PS: I expect you not to open a similar thread.

(*) A human that created a tool with a built-in protection check that would have prevented you killing the unit, protection that you just bypassed by the way… You only had to follow the guide written by such human…

Ai is wrong. This is a MY 2020+ Replacment APIM. I did’nt even have to use Ai and I even got a pic of it! The APIM is bricked.
