Black screen when trying to downgrade

I have a 2019 F-150 with navigation. I was trying to downgrade my Sync 3 system from 3.4 23188 down to 3.3 19052. I used to Syn3 updater to make the usb. Plugged to usb into the truck and it showed updating system software. That stay on the screen for around 30 mins and then it went away. I was waiting for the box to pop up saying to remove usb and power cycle the truck but it never showed up… I waited and additional 30 mins and nothing happened so I did a power cycle. Upon reboot I still had version 3.4 and it was very laggy so I did a master reset. Now I have a black screen. When I do a power cycle I get the Ford logo but then after a few second the screen goes black with no black light. Ive tried a soft reset by holding the power and forward button and will light up the screen like its about to do something then after a minute the screen goes out again.

Any idea on what I can do to possibly get this back?

Based on the log you posted the USB wasn’t formatted as exFAT like it is supposed to be.
Reformat the USB to exFAT, recreate it with the updater and then plug it in and try again about 5 minutes after you see the Ford boot screen.
It should take 20-30 minutes to run although I don’t know if you’ll see a completion screen of any in progress screen at all.

I went to check to truck this morning and surprisingly the black screen was gone and every boots up fine. It is still on 3.4.23188 so the downgrade to 3.3.19052 did not work. I’m glad I didn’t brick the APIM.

I had the syn3 software do a format of the USB before it loaded the software on it. I will format it manually to exFAT and try again. Is there anything special I have to do with the updater software in order to downgrade to 3.3?

Just select your target version as 3.3.19052 with the method of downgrade.

You are not the first user to report this kind of issue while changing Sync3 version, even users under Ford’s upgrade path have done so… It’s unclear what’s triggering it…

Do you have Forscan and an adapter?, if so please share the APIM’s asbuilt.

This is not correct. A downgrade method implies installing 3.3.19052 only to install the reformat package and then reformat the unit.
So in the OP’s case it’s just an autoinstall for 3.3.19052.

Is this the correct information?

apim strategy

So if I try to install the older software again, so I just do the same autoinstall from 3.4.23188 back to 3.3.19052? Or should I use the downgrade option?

No, that’s not it, you are looking for something like this:
