Hello new to the site looking for some help! I am trying to retrofit Sync 3 into my 13 ford edge I pulled the apim and screen from a 17 ford escape. Hooked everything up and get a black screen I can edit as-built data using forscan but not exactly sure what I need to do. For some reason its not registering the fcim, so I can’t turn on or off anything even tho both vehicles had the sony sound system. The buttons on the steering wheel don’t work as well. I have no sound but on the icp It says audio off, along with please connect a phone so I know it’s working. I’m thinking it’s vin locked or I need to reset some as built data. Forscan does see it and can edit data. I have the VIN for the escape and looked at its as built data along with another edge as built data but for a 2017 edge, and now a flex, but nothing I changed worked. Could the screen be bad or do I need to get a different module? Definitely need some insight for some help getting this working. I feel like it would just don’t know exactly what I’m doing.
VIN locked is not a thing with the APIM.
Your issue is more than likly AB info that needs to be updated. Post your AB for your APIM here so we can make sugestions on changes.
Good to know! Here is the ab data for the apim, would there be any other modules that would change? I was comparing ab data last night and kinda came up with my own strings but haven’t tried it yet but also missing the last 2 numbers of the string so idk if it would even work. I think its weird that the screen wont turn on and cant use the buttons on fcim. I can understand the buttons not working but not the screen I feel like since the apim and the screen are connected the screen should come on with it 
I was searching and seen that that the black screen is a common problem with sync3 and also seen that there was 2 different screens, could it be something like that?

Make sure to save you AB before you make any of these changes in case you have to revert back.

This one seems to be wrong also but I cant find a good setting for it. Maybe @F150Chief might know.
Your vehicle is CEGA 1.2 and a few section seems to be incorrectly set for CEGA 1.3
I just got done trying your edits, unfortunately that didn’t work either, I thought it was a 1.2 and not the 1.3, that’s only because the apim is out of a 2017 ford escape and not an edge would that make a difference? I also did my own tinkering with it and got the fcim sound and source buttons to light up for a few seconds then went dim again. When running freeze frame data not sure if it’s the apim or the fcim but when I press the power button one of the 2 thinks its the volume button still no sw control but it will keep some what of a time on the instrument cluster lol is there another module I need to update as built data on?
The APIM’s are all the same for the most part when it comes to what will work. Yes you were right, the Edge for that year is CEGA 1.2 so as long as the AB is set accordingly it would not matter.
good to know i was hoping i didn’t buy the wrong apim! lol. I seen in your message something about DE00 how do i get to that or see that to edit it? Is that the integrator log out of the sync3updater or is this something i can access forscan? The video’s i keep watching everyone just seems to plug it in and it just works when they pull it our if another car, even tho they still have as built data to put in, curious on why this one is different or could at least have the screen comes on.
You wont see this in Forscan. It’s irrelivent. Everything after that is all that matters.
Yea they are not showing you some crucual steps in the video’s but I would guess they got an APIM out of the same model and year car. If it has the same options than yea, no AB changes would probally be nessesary. When you are swapping an APIM between models than in most if not all cases you will need to adjust the AB.
