This is exactly what I was expecting, thanks for going thru all the work to show this. Getting the antenna mounted externally on the vehicle should fix the SXM reception.

You can use the FAKRA Z style cables which are universal fit rather than having to hack the other ones…

Just had mine delivered today.

Installed everything this weekend and all works as intended.

For those doing it themselves, you do not have to paint the cover on the new antenna. The cover is held on by 5 screws so you can easily swap old and new covers.
