Hello CyanLabs community,
I have read a large number of your posts and discussions regarding the 4G TCU upgrade, but I still have one question that I haven’t been able to answer.
I own a 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid that was originally built for the U.S. market, but the vehicle is now located and driven in Romania (Europe).
My current TCU module is:
Ford Part No. GP5T-14G087-DH
I am interested in upgrading to a 4G TCU, but before I start buying parts and modifying the car, I would really like to know whether this upgrade is actually worth pursuing in my situation.
My main concern is whether a 4G TCU retrofit would function properly in Romania on a U.S.-spec vehicle. Specifically, would it be able to connect to the European cellular network and provide connected services, or are there hardware, firmware, or regional limitations that would prevent it from working?
If anyone has successfully performed this retrofit on a U.S.-spec Ford or Lincoln vehicle operating in Europe, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Thank you very much for all the work you do and for any guidance you can provide!
