I successfully update my 2018 F150 Sync 3.0xxxx to the latest 3.4.23188 a few days ago. At that time I also tried to update a portion (North and South?) of the NAmerica maps as I was concerned about space on the 32GB thumdrive. (Admittedly I missed very clear documentation on this). I’ back to trying to update to the latest maps (NA - 2024 - 12 - 15- 20124) and I’m getting the licensing error LIC\_ERRO1. I thought a donation to Cyan Labs for the awesome work they did on the Syn3 updater software would be appropriate (and pitched this in a Ford forum) but if they only require “Hi” and “Thanks” to help me resolve this here it is! ---

Maps are ESN locked, you can’t autoinstall NA maps And i’m confused how you got to this configuration in Syn3 Updater 🤔 ---

Thank you for the quick reply, and the effort you’ve extended helping the Ford Sync community. Does the Ford hardware write a log file to the USB drive that I can pull and forward? (I suspect it’s not capable or you would have asked.) I’m confused about why NA maps are not ‘auto-installable’ as the maps drop down offers it in the updater software, but I’m rather easily confused. 🙂 Note that I did pay Ford for map updates since 2018 but it’s been some years since they’ve offered them to me. It would appear from your reply that I will need to manually install maps (which I haven’t tried yet), and will likely need to find my maps serial number to do that? What other info can I supply? ---
