i downloaded the sync 3 uploader installed the update for sync 3 to sync3.4 plugged the usb in and it said withing 5 seconds install complete and the screen went black * * * **SYNC Region:** EU Secondly this update requires a reformat which would require maps to be reinstalled to work correctly since you have Nav. You will need a 64GB thumb drive. lastly you need to be formatted correctly. I dont know how you did it but it should be exFAT not FAT32. ---

Does the unit exhibit some sign of life? (audio, bluetooth pairing, powered USB ports?) Have you checked for MY20?. ---

The only life it has is the lights on the buttons. I usb doesn’t work and I carnt get any sound or connect my phone to it. ---

Based on that, it seems you used a reformat USB on a MY20 unit. This can be confirmed by either: - using forscan and a valid adapter to read the APIM’s part number - unmounting the unit and taking a look at the sticker on it’s back (share the image with us). ---

Do you have to take all the trim off around the unit, if so how do I do that am not very good with motors as you can tell by the mess I have done with trying to updating thr unit ---

Likely. That part number is the for the screen. Your APIM is located elsewhere. Start by looking behind the glove box which is where it is found sometimes in a Ford Transit depending on the model. The other part of that yellow connector should be connected to the APIM. ---

If you do not want to mess with that, an alternative is for you to get an adapter and forscan, then read the part number without removing anything. ---
