Retrofitted SYNC3 components now have no volume function

I have a 2015 Taurus Interceptor which Im trying to convert from no sync to sync3. After installing a Sony Sync3 the volume wont work as well as the hvac. The guy who sold me the conversion harness said i should buy a civilian hvac/temp module. Cant i just reprogram the current module? I ran my vin and the vin of the donor and these are the differences. Any advice?

So, the Taurus is a CGEA 1.2 vehicle and Sync 3 is designed for CGEA 1.3 vehicles. Certain things like HVAC will not work properly through the Sync 3 screen controls. There is no real fix for this. However, the Volume controls through Sync 3 should work, but the APIM asbuilt needs to be adjusted to allow this. Do you know where the Sync module was sourced, or donor VIN? It is likely the Sync module was set up for a CGEA 1.2 vehicle, so you will need to make adjustments to the asbuilt with FORScan and a quality OBD adapter.

The vins are in the picture. Hopefully they are clear enough.

I appreciate it. Thank you

I am happy to help but whatever you sent is not gonna work. Please just get a snipit picture of the APIM AB in Forscan.

Apologies, pretty new to this. I will connect to my car later today.

Apologies , been sick last few days. So I dont have an apim in the car currently. Its a no sync/syc 1? I had the sync3 in shortly but my hvac and vol did not work so i switched back. I will post the as built snippet of the apim from the ford download as well as anything i thought might be of interest from my car. 2nd pic is of apim from donor car.

I only need the AB from the APIM that is having the issues you discribed. None of the other settings and modules matter. Nothing should be coming from the Ford website or anywhere else.

Ok, understood. I will have to do it when I install it in again. Probably this week. Thank you.

So I have installed everything again but scanning with forscan does not bring up the installed apim. I guess something else needs to be changed in another module first? I am confused since every video ive seen does not mention this. I did find an error in the acm regarding volume but no other selection makes a difference.

You must delete you old Forscan profile and start a new one whenver you change hardware or calibrations.

Learning something new every day. I did not delete. I will do that tomorrow and try again. Thanks for letting me know.

So I believe I did what you asked. I deleted the current profile and began as new. Still does not see new components. Only ACM is available. Maybe I am missing a specific procedure?

If your not seeing the APIM now than you most likly have a bad harness.

So doing a little research it would seem that I only have I-CAN lines going to the apim. Unless i am mistaken you need MS-CAN lines for sync3. Can I add those somehow?

Yes, The MS can is what the HVAC unit should be on also. That could be your issue for sure.
