Sync 3.4.20136 - Feedback & Issues

I used the Ford Sync Update Downloader to downgrade (I was at 19274), and the downgrade was successful.

I then used the utility to update to 20136. After putting the flashdrive in the usb port, my infortainment screen said updating software, then about a minute later it said update complete, restarting. My infotainment then went black, and will not come back on. Any ideas on what went wrong or what I can do now?

Update: I think my issue is that I pulled out the flashdrive after I got the update complete message (I found some instructions on the site saying that it needs to be left in for the reformat process). At any rate, the screen went black and will not turn on.

Update 2: Here is some more info. I have a 2020 Explorer ST. I downloaded the NA version of 20136 with maps to the flashdrive.

OK thanks, I have car from 2018. Probably this failure will not occur.

I think you are probably right, i’m not sure what can be done from a end user perspective to fix this, it will likely need a hardware flash to restore.

Thanks. I’m guessing a hardware flash is something I cannot do (it would be a Ford dealer thing)?

A dealer wouldn’t do it, you need to disassemble the unit and flash with a 3rd party programmer, but have you tried the basics like leaving the battery disconnected for X time etc.

I haven’t done that. I’ll look into how to disconnect the battery.

Installed today on to my 2019 Ford Fiesta ST which was running Sync 3.3 and F7 maps. I think everything went okay but not 100% sure.

I used the CyanLabs program to download and set everything up on to my USB. Stuck it in the car and let it do its thing and it too about 50 minutes or so. Once it completed, the infotainment screen showed a message to remove the USB which I did. The system restarted and asked for the USB to remain plugged in to finished the install which is when I was greeted with an error PKG_ERR04. Everything seems to work okay however. I have nav, radio station icons, what appears to be full functionality and it does show as build version 20136 with F9 maps.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Ignore it all is good but make sure to do a master reset from settings > general > master reset

Many thanks for such a quick reply. Sorry forgot to mention, yes I did the master reset too. Perfect looks like I’m done. Cheers.

No worries for reference pkgerr04 is it trying to activate the reformat tool which is blacklisted on 19274 and therefore gives that error. If it didn’t give you that error it would have started the entire process again

Buenas tardes, he intentado actualizar mi Focus con version 20021 a esta 20136 con estos archivos y me da error 05, tenogo nav de europa. esto es posible o necesito otra solucion.

hi, could you create a custom package for me?

Did you downgrade first?
If not you must select downgrade and do this first before attempting to upgrade on that version.

I will definitly stay with the 19200 build version. The most stable one, and I have my VIDEO, BACKGROUNDS and ENDINGS on it.
Never had any troubles

Can do video and backgrounds on all versions including 20136

I can, too, but like I said, the 19200 is the most reliable one
