Updated 3.3 to 3.4 and now my screen just displays a 4" screen in the upper corner of my 8" screen

Updated 3.3 to 3.4 and now my screen just displays a 4" screen in the upper corner of my 8" screen. Took it to a Dealer and they told me that my OE was the 4" screen and that a previous owner must have upgraded, so when I updated from SyncMyRide it was configured for a 4" screen. Trying the Cyanlabs Sync3 Updater. Anyone have any past experience and/or results or solutions?

SYNC Region: NA

Navigation Variant: Non Nav

Manufacturer Year: MY20

Old SYNC Version: 3.3

New SYNC Version: 3.4

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
no

Update Method: Official Ford

Year/model/trim of the vehicle?
You’ll need to get us a copy of the current asbuilt config of the APIM using ForScan.

Any reason as to why you spammed this over the chat as well? Are you in a hurry to get free support?. I’ve deleted your chat message.

Syn3Updater only works with 8’’ variants, so assuming your screen is 8’’ the correct package will be used.

So create an upgrade USB for the desired 3.4 version, keep MY20 active and do not upgrade maps.

Also, disable auto updates, you can’t use Ford’s updates anymore.

Thanks - sorry about the chat spam I was on my phone and thought I was entering a topic - I’ll wait until the Cyanlabs update finishes before posting further and if it doesn’t work I’ll be sure and upload the interrogator log

Just ensure MY20 protection is active, your unit is MY20 and can only accept autoinstalls…

So just update Sync3, no maps, with MY20 protection active…

Let us know how it goes.

If it’s a 4" to 8" upgrade it could be anything in there really. Smart to assume it’s a 2020+ though unless you look at the sticker.

It worked! Uploaded the new firmware and reset on completion and I am updated and back to full screen. Thanks for all the help!

Great, thank you for the feedback.
Remember to disable auto updates and avoid any update Ford sends your way, since to Ford’s eyes your vehicle has a 4 inch screen…

Since the system is up and running, it would be good for you to confirm the APIM 's model by running an interrogator log against it. I suspect it will come back as MY20 as we all are guessing, so keep MY20 protection enabled at all times .
