Hello had a question want to upgrade my 17 MKZ Hybrid to get the 4g working but I bought TCU JL3T-14G087-XX before finding your website where I saw that I should be using TCU HJ5T-14G087-XX. Just want to verify that the one I bought is no good before trying to find a HJ5T-14G087 TCU. Which I can already tell is not going to be easy none on ebay at that moment. Thank you!
Use the JL3T if you want to get TPMS through FordPass, you’ll need it at -CM calibration when you finish up. Use the AB from a 2019 MKZ/Fusion Hybrid (or FHEV if your have that) for the config to get the correct alerts as the 3G one in your factory AB you don’t want to drop into the unit.
Also if you do use the JL3T you’ll need a 2nd Ford PIFA antenna connected to the tan port if you don’t want to see missing antenna DTCs (doesn’t affect the car, its just something to remember).
You can use the H series, for that use the AB from a 2017/2018 Fusion Platinum Hybrid (or FHEV) as those came with H series TCUs from the factory. The factory part number on those units is HS7T-14G229-MR, no matter what model H you use you’ll still need to get it up to -CM calibration.
So, I could use the TCU JL3T-14G087-CF i got off ebay. Thats great news thank you so much for the information Warlock12118. Do you think I should try to do the 3g to 4g TCU upgrade first or the sync update first? Trying to update my sync from 3 to 3.4 as well and would updating my sync affect anything in my car? Thank you.
If you’re still on 3.0 and looking at going to 3.4 its your call.
To me it would depend on how long the return window is on the TCU, if you’ve got it in hand I’d do the TCU first and get it working then do the 3.4.x.
