After replacing my APIM from Sync 2 to Sync 3 and swapping my ACM, I lost communication with the DSP. I can’t access the AS BUILT on the DSP and when I try to flash the firmware on the DSP to stock (or even updated firmware), I’m getting a Flash Memory Erase Collision error. Is there a way to fix this with Forscan? Also, I loaded the factory AS BUILTs on the APIM and ACM modules before I found the issue with the DSP module.
Why did you swap out the ACM?
Its not required for a Sync2 to Sync3 upgrade.
What was the donor of the ACM, did you drop your factory AB into it?
Have you tried putting the original ACM back into the vehicle?
Who did the custom config for the APIM? A Sync2 AB will not work correctly in a Sync3 APIM.
Why were you flashing the DSP?
Disconnect battery for a couple of mins and cross your fingers tightly before reconnecting and retesting.
I swapped the ACM because I kept getting a DTC for CD Player electrical issue. I did try swapping the original ACM back in but it didn’t fix the issue. Also I have tried disconnecting the battery several times and resetting/rebooting all 3 modules. Issue still there. In Forscan when I try to open the DSP module AS BUILT, Forscan tells me “service interrupted” and when I try to fix the firmware I get the Flash Memory Erase Collision error. Everything works with the Sync 3 system except the volume. The knob on the Sony control does everything except show the volume when you turn it. The volume control on the steering wheel will pop up on the screen but stays at 0 and. When I check the DTCs, lost communication with Digital Audio control module (DSP) is what shows.
You’ve got a few problems here.
And they are all LIN bus issues from what you describe.
Who did the Sync3 config for the APIM? It’s the LIN bus gateway for the DSP.
Was the APIM configured to have the Sony system or ? Dead give away is if you don’t have the Surround option under audio settings.
Post the AB from the APIM as well as the one from the FCIM.
So I went down to a local junkyard and got a used ASP (Sony Amp) from a same 2012 Focus and installed it. As soon as I turned the car on all audio and controls worked. I do appreciate you guys taking the time to help.
Interesting that the DSP died during your upgrade/mod.
The DSP is always powered even on ignition off, any chance you shorted something to ground when you swapped the ACM?
