2015 F150 Sync2 to Sync 3 Issues

Just Installed the Sync 3 W/ Factory Nav in my 2015 F150 Lariat. I am upgrading from Sync 2 with factory NAV. Ran into a few issues wondering if anyone can help:

Volume Numbers on the APIM screen do not change from Zero (0) when utilizing the steering wheel controls

Volume Number does not appear at all when utilizing the knob to control volume

Bass, Treble, Midrange, appears to always be in the middle. You can pull it off center but always moves itself back. The sound does change though.

I have Sony Sound, not sure it’s powering the factory sub unit, doesn’t sound like it.

Clicking on XM does nothing.

The GPS says I’m going North when I am faced East.

Android auto doesn’t appear through blue tooth connection, should it be? It hooks up through USB.

I plan on updating to 3.4 once I can get everything working.

No error messages

Update Method: Official Ford

I just upgraded my 2015. When connecting Forscan is the dialog box confirming you have Sync 2 or Sync 3? If it shows Sync 2 reboot the APIM in service procedures. Follow any power cycle instructions when they pop up. The next time you connect it should confirm Sync 3.

  1. You need to start ForScan with no saved profile
  2. You cannot use your factory AB as it is for Sync2 (MFT)
  3. Find a 2016 F150 on a used car site with the same features as yours and use it’s VIN to pull down an AB from https://www.motorcraftservice.com/Asbuilt/ that would get you to F150 Sync3 config which should work (you may still have to tweak a few things afterwards).
  4. The audio being out of whack is an indication of the config being for a non-Sony vehicle.

I can confirm when I removed my profile and rebooted APIM it picked up my VIN.

That’s not what I was referring to.
ForScan will always pick up your VIN and clicking on factory AB for a module will ALWAYS pull down what Ford has on file for your vehicle.
The issue is that Ford only supports Sync2/MFT on the 2015 F150 so it will ALWAYS have the AB for Sync2/MFT, it will never have one for Sync3.

Hence the reason for loading the config from the AB of a 2016 F150 that came with Sync3.

Your VIN in owner.ford.com will always show the Sync update as being 3.10 (last build for Sync2/MFT), It will never show anything for Sync3, just as a 2016 F150 updated to Sync 3.4.xx will never show an available Sync 3.4.x update. It will only show Sync 3.0.x because that is what it came with from the factory.
