2017 Lincoln MKX - just getting clarification before update

Hey everyone.. New user here.. ive been reading around and doing as much reading as possible before i posted.. but I just wanted to make sure, and ask the experts, since im new to the Ford/Lincoln world.

I have a new (to me) 2017 Lincoln MKX. I found this forum, and the updater because I was tryiing to update my nav maps… and didnt want to pay $300 or whatever it was. Anyway. I sucsessfully updated my Sync with the Lincoln update, but havent done my Nav maps. Here is my info.
Sync 3.0 build 23219_Product
Gracenote 1.1.1.1139 (NA-0010)
Nav Maps NA 1 17

Im hoping to just get confirmation that i can run the auto updater, and magic things will happen. Im not sure if i need a new USB hub anything else. Just hoping to have a more updated car.. with apple play if possible. lol Thanks in advance.. let me know if you want/need any other info. I appreciate it.

Create and run an interrogator log, share the XML file with us (redact the VIN from the file name and content if you care about it).

Thank you for the log.

Your APIM JR3T-14G371-CHA is not MY20 as per our hardware DB and can be reformatted in order to install 3.4 with the latest maps, so you should be fine. And I’m using “should” instead of “will” because there’s always an inherent risk (even it’s very low) and the log can’t see which screen the unit has.

So an educated guess is that you should be fine upgrading.
Just remember you are exiting Ford’s update path.

About the USB HUB, being your vehicle from 2017, you should not need to upgrade the USB HUB.
BUT, Car Play should be already working for you while on 3.0… You would not need to upgrade to 3.4 for it to work…

What’s the issue with CP?, are you using a certified cable?. Have you tried with Android Auto?.

Thanks, Yes, I am aware that I am exiting Fords regular update path.. Its like jailbreaking a phone or something else.

i do understand the risk, I just wanted to make sure that better eyes than mine were looking. I trust the process y’all have built. its amazing.

Im pretty sure CP works.. just dont usually have a cable around.. and dont really like it tethered all the time. probs was looking for wireless. We are an Apple house.. so no android here.. sorry. lol

Ill load up a 16 or 32GB drive and git it a go. everything look good?

No, not really. By using Syn3updater your are installing official packages from Ford, but outside Ford’s upgrade path. Packages are signed by Ford and provided by Ford, Syn3updater is just a facilitator. But Ford will never send you 3.4 updates your way if you upgrade, to their eyes your car should be on 3.0 and will provide a 3.0 update if there’s a new one. Hence, “you leave the Ford upgrade path”, it has nothing to do with jailbreaking the unit.

That’s ok, but I would double check if it works now. About wireless, you can always get a Wireless CP dongle, that’s what I did for Android Auto and it’s been an one way ticket.

About the USB it looks good, but share the log once it’s created. If you have a Sandisk USB try with that, if not try with the one you have.
