Long issue, but abridged version here! I have an issue with my 2022 plate Ford Transit L2H2 Van (UK version) that is driving me mad!
I have Sync 2.5 - all in one ACM unit and screen, no APIM.
K1BT-18B955-FC screen with LK2T-18D804-HG.
Unfortunately the pcb mounted connector on the screen sheared off.
Replaced the screen, I was met with a black screen. The radio still works and bluetooth connection to my phone (including car play when plugged in), but no life to the screen.
I assumed that perhaps then that it was actually the case that the L1BT screen was not compatible with my vehicle. So I purchased a K1BT-18B955-FC. Unfortunately the black screen persists even with a screen of the exact same model that was working previously.
Both the replacement screens (L1BT & K1BT) were taken from Ford Fiestas rather than transits - but given I was informed they are dumb screens, I didn’t expect that to be an issue since the product numbers match.
Just incase there was any damage to the head unit when the connector sheared off, I purchased another screen and head unit matched pair taken from a Transit custom.
MK2T-18D804-HE and L1BT-18B955-FC which were the exact model numbers given to me by ford.
Again exactly the same thing - radio works, screen totally black and unresponsive.
The ford logo never shows - it is completely dead.
I have also tried an alternative LVDS cable in case that was at fault.
The same symptoms with all the different screens I’ve tried and head units.
I have FORSCAN. This is the re-curring DTC.
Code: B108E - Display
Additional Fault Symptom (:14):
• Circuit Short To Ground Or Open
Status (-2F):
• DTC Present at Time of Request
• Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC
Module: Audio Control Module
Freeze Frame #1:
• EVENT_TIME: 136214430 s (Sat May 09 09:48:18 2026) - Event time
• TOTAL_DISTANCE: 260459 km - Total Distance
Here are the steps, in addition to the hardware changing listed above, that I have taken.
• Soft reset
• Key cycle
• Disconnecting negative terminal from battery, leaving for 1 hour then reconnecting.
• Rebooting ACM, BCMii, GWM modules in forscan.
• BCM Local Interconnect Network New Module Calibration in forscan.
• Loading AS built in BCM and ACM.
• GWM reboot
Every time the same DTC re-appears.
Returned all the extra screens and head units and just kept the K1BT same as what was working previously.
Took the vehicle to Ford who were not as helpful as I was hoping. I did give them all this info but because they are so busy, I’m not sure they really read it because they just put ACM ‘possibly needs replacing’. One thing they did do was verify the screen worked - they put it in a 2021 plate van and screen sprang to life instantly.
After bring the van home, I did some further electrical testing. Wiring harness to head unit is stable around 11.8v.
And the LVDS cable is delivering stable 11.8v voltage also to the screen. So it’s not a power issue. I can’t see how there is a short circuit as the DTC states. It must be some sort of communication error.
What could be going on here? Is it something to do with gateway module - does it need FDRS? Or is that not applicable on this van?
Any help greatly appreciated!
