Activating Ambient Lighting on a 2020 GT500 digital dash

Hello everyone,

I installed a 2020 Mustang GT500 digital dashboard on a 2019 Mustang Ecoboost premium and I can’t activate the ambient lighting menu in the dash.

The ecoboost has ambient lighting, whereas the GT500 does not come with this option.

My question is would I be able to activate the option in the dashboard using Forscan or would the entire dash need to have a different firmware installed?

The digital dash part number is LR3V-10849-YB.

Could someone help me with this issue if indeed it could be activated with Forscan (what values do I need to change)?

Thank you very much!

George

Yep. Likely the dash needs to have a different firmware installed since the 2020 model did not offer the option. If your Mustang has the “MyColor” system and a digital dash, you can press the “Pony” button on the steering wheel, go to “MyColor,” and select “Ambient” to find the light and dimming controls.

Yea, my Mustang had the option, I could find it in the menu of the analog dash I had but the digital one doesn’t have the option in the menu since the GT500 doesn’t come with it. Any idea what I would need to switch the firmware on it to a regular GT one?

The first thing is to find out if the 2019 with a digital dash has that feature, providing they installed digital dashes like the one you have in a 2019 Mustang. I am not familiar with that.

You could try looking on the Mustang6G forum…

Yup, some 2018+ Mustangs come with the digital dash. All of them have the ambient lighting, except the GT500 one. There are 3 variations of the digital dash that come on 2018+ Mustangs: The regular GT/Ecoboost ones, the Bullit ones and the GT500 one.
