so i have a 2016 ford fusion se that i have put a sync 3 apim in and im wondering if i can add a 4g tcu in it. it currently doesnt have a tcu so im wondering how hard it is to add the harness in as thats really my only concern. i already have access to forscan beta
You might need a wiring harness if the vehicle is lower trim model. But yes you can add a 4G TCU, you will need a J-series unit or an H-series. K-series and beyond will not be compatible with your vehicle.
will it just plug in to the bcm or what?
No, it needs to be tied into the HS3-CAN network and constant or ‘always on’ power. You will need an antenna which will locate on the rear window shelf under the trim panel, and you will need to program the APIM and TCU with FORScan. You might need to change the firmware in the TCU to the latest version for Sync 3.
ok ok so that’s not too terrible thank you for your help
so when adding the new tcu, how would i go about wiring it to the hs3-can
