Aftermarket Camera Showing Bluescreen and then a Camera Unavailable message. (Retrofitted SYNC 2 to SYNC 3)

Hi, I need help figuring out on how to fix the bluescreen I get when I go use my aftermarket camera. It was working about a week ago, but then all a sudden now I only get a blue screen. I thought it was the camera but after replacing it with a new one it still shows up with a bluescreen. I have done all possible steps I can imagine. Which are is listed below:

  • Validated power and ground of the backup camera.
  • Changed the RCA connector that runs from the rear to the APIM as well as the RCA to APIM connector.
  • Master reset the APIM.
  • Updated to and reverted SYNC 3 versions/builds: 3.4.21020 to 3.4.23188 to then 3.4.19274 to 3.3.19052 then back to 3.4.23188. (Master Reset the APIM on each update.)
  • Revalidated the backup camera connections and tested that it has power and ground.
  • Checked Forscan, backup camera option is enabled and set to analog. Also tried the digital option but that did do anything and reverted it back to analog.

I have now spent about 3 days trying to figure out what and why it is doing that. I have included my ASBUILT here as I think it may be the issue but at this point I have no clue.

My vehicle is a 2013 Ford Escape SEL 2.0 Ecoboost with SYNC 2 Navigation (Retrofitted to SYNC 3 with APIM and ACM coming from a 2019 Ford Escape SEL, with SYNC 3 Navigation.).

No error message encountered when updating and reverting back SYNC 3 version/builds.

Did you buy a custom harness? The stock systems do not come with an RCA connector for the cameras.

Yes, I bought a 54 pin adapter to add a RCA adapter which worked with my SYNC2 and SYNC3 until the issue started happening and I originally thought the original harness adapter may have gone bad but the same issue still happens with the new adapter I bought. Other than the backup camera showing a blue screen, everything works fine and smooth operation with the SYNC3 APIM.

I bought a mini RCA screen and will be seeing if that is receiving a signal from the camera. If so maybe the APIM may have gone bad or something but I will update once I get the chance to test out the camera to fully verify that the camera works.
