Android Auto not working after update

I downloaded the update for my VIN directly from ford (2016 Lincoln Navigator). I was at sync3 1.0 (build 15139) and the update went to 3.0 (build 23219). It took me a few attempts to update, but eventually gave me update finished message. I did the update primarily for Android Auto and I have not gotten it to work. My system can play audio over usb from my phone (pixel 8), but no AA. I have tried many cables (at least 6 different brands/quality). I have tried master resets and reupdating via usb and the master reset. At no time has android auto showed up. I can post a log file using the method here if that is the next step? Thanks.

Hello.

Try installing 2.2.17011… take the following post as a guide → 2016 Mustang Sync3 1.0 updated to 3.0 and no Apple Carplay! - #10 by SaNdMaN

Once you are done, you can re-install JR3T-14G381-AY (3.0.23219).

Of course, try using Android Auto while 2.2.17011 is running before going back to 3.0.xxxxx

Thank you for the fast response! I assume I do not need the “DONTINDX.MSA” file on the usb? I will attempt this within the next two days and report back.

It’s not strictly necessary, that file tells Sync3 not to index the USB drive… You can create it, it just needs to be a blank file with that name and extension.
Tell us how it goes.

With a 2016 depending on build date you may need to replace the USB media hub to get AA to work.

Well, it went well :tada:

The downgrade to 2.2 took about 50 minutes. At that point I had AA.

I then upgraded to 3.0 and that only took about 20 minutes. Still have AA!

Thank you so much!

By the way, my build date was pretty early at 01/16.

I am assuming in order to do carplay I would need to replace the USB media hub?

Actually 1/2016 is mid year build, they usually start building in early Q3 of the previous calendar year.
That puts you beyond the 1st iteration of the media hub where Ford still wanted everything to be FordPass apps, you’ll need to be in a newer H series media hub for CP.

Possibly yes, you would need a new hub for CP. So try it, if it does not work, you will need to replace the hub for CP.
