APIM search

I’m looking to source a APIM for a sync2 to sync3 retrofit on a 2015 F150. From the research I have done it seems like I want to source one from 2017-2019? I have also seen mention of “J” or “K” series which I assume is the first letter in the part number. Do I want a 32gb or 64gb? I think 64gb are EU only? Is it worth trying to find one or is 32gb fine? I found this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/196834990477 and looking in the database it seems like it would work but is neither a J or K. The label seems off though compared to others I’ve seen so Im questioning its authenticity. When it comes to a display, will any sync3 screen work or are there different generations there too? Thanks for any pointers.

Do not get a MY20 one, so that you can reformat it with Syn3updater (check the hw db for checking that). K series are 2019, L series are 2020, J series are 2018 (careful, there are J series replacement APIMs that are MY20)
J or K series are ok. If you are NA based, 32GB is the one you want.
APIM’s models are the ones marked with 14G371 in the P/N, 14G370 are the assemblies.

What are the “H” series then, 2017? I’m looking at one that is HJ5T-14G370-KCB. It says it was pulled from a 2017 Escape with Nav. Should I keep looking?

I would avoid the H series. They are the slower ones that were from 2016 &17.

How’s this one? MFG Date is 1/11/2019 if its not clear.

Only thing I’m not sure about is it seems to be a Gen 4 based on the images here: https://naviupgrade.com/all/resources/sync-2-vs-sync-3-whats-the-difference/
So, does this make it a MY20 and will it work in my 2015? Thanks!

Looks fine to me. I have the same one in my 2015 Explorer.

That’s a NAV unit pulled from a 2019 Fusion.
If the seller has the VIN of the car it was pulled from you can validate it if you like by going to go to owner.ford.com with that VIN.
The ESN shown on the page should match what’s in the picture. (the WY number at the start of the part number line)

Once Im there and enter the VIN, where do I see the ESN. I don’t see any number or anything listed on the Vehicle Dashboard.

Go to Sync then updates, the ESN will definitely show on either the map update page or the Sync update page.

Found it through the map updates page. The ESN matches the sticker on the APIM. I guess I’ll go ahead and pull the trigger on this. It’s a screen and APIM. Seems like a good price from what I can tell. Thanks for the help.
