Audio lag from APIM Bluetooth and Android Auto

I have a 2017 Lincoln MKX and have bad audio lag both on Android Auto (not as bad) and on Bluetooth (Severe audio lag).

I’m not sure if it’s the Sync 3 System or just the APIM itself. I was hoping when I upgraded to 3.4 from 2.3 it would be fixed.

Anyone else having this issue with their older (2017+) audio systems? It’s very noticable when watching a video on YouTube. The audio is off more than a full second on Bluetooth. Using the USB cable on the Sync system helps, it’s not as bad… But still a slight lag.

This has been documented extensively with AA and Sync systems. Sync was never designed to be a video player and has no provision for this use. However, FMods does have a video player mod that apparently works well. You should look into that as it is the only way you will be able to use the system in this manner. Of course, you will not be able to use it in motion.

I kinda figured it was the system. I watch the videos on my phone, it’s just the audio coming from the speakers, the lag is pretty bad.

Not so bad with the sync cable.

Thanks for the reply.

Depending on your phone, you might be able to set a delay to get the picture and audio to sync up. It is possible on Samsungs using their goodlock->sound assistant tool. To get it to sync using that tool, it shows a metronome and you keep calibrating until the picture aligns with the beep. And, this calibrated profile becomes assigned to the specific Bluetooth profile, so the video delay you introduce does not affect other Bluetooth devices, such as earbuds. I’m able to watch videos on my phone perfectly in sync with the car audio system now.

Thank you. I think this will solve the issue. I’ve deleted the profile and reset sync with no luck. It only does it in my car. I drive a Mack truck for work and don’t have any problems. Just in my car watching videos. Tanks again for the info.
