Bad Sync Downgrade

Greetings All.

I am running Sync 2.5 version G2.5_R25074B and this evening I tried to downgrade to version G1.7.2.1_R21301a using the same autoinstall.lst and SyncMyRide method I have used before.

The installation failed after a few minuites but I thought no bother, worth a try and switched the vehicle off. USB ports were still working at this point.

Anyhow now i have no working USB ports. Everything else seems to be working as normal.

Is this a dealer job or is there another way to try something like an update back to a working G2.5_R25074B. I do have Forscan beta licenced and a vlinker lead. Can this be done with Forscan ?

In a bit of a panic. Any guidance much appreciated.

If everything is working fine except the USB ports something tells me it’s not Sync related. Have you tried checking the wires?. And yes, you will have to disassemble some parts.

Thanks for your reply. The USB’s died after the downgrade fail. I was probably out of the car for 10 minuites and when i got back in they were dead. I think I will need to replace the ACM.

I do not see how software could do that. Do not get me wrong, I’m not saying you are wrong, but I would try some other things before jumping into conclusions of having to replace modules.

Totally agree with you. I’m in disbelief myself. Really appreciate the replies.

This is what I would do before going to a dealer:

  • leave the battery not connected overnight, that should trigger a general module reset
  • get access to the suspected modules, check the wire connections are solid and good
  • check the power from the ports, both at the source and hub
  • check via forscan if there’s any DTC

I swapped the ACM unit today. USB’s were still not working but then I did a TCU module reset with Forscan and suddenly the came alive again. I am now wondering if a TCU reset would have brought my original ACM Bluetooth back to life. Busy with work so not enough time and I’m not sure I’d want to pop off all that trim again to change the ACM over again. ACM L1TT-18D804-HT Sync 2.5. Cant post photo’s here ?

Hard to say, I suggested checking for DTCs before, and also to leave the battery unplugged overnight to force a cold module boot…

It’s a long story buy I’ve been having a battle with getting FordPass connected. I’ve been at it for 3 months. I’ve had another very helpful guy guiding me but so far no joy. It took a couple of months to get the vehicle out of fleet mode but that’s done now.

I have DTCs for B156D TCU Customer Connectivity Settings Synchronization with HMI. GPS Antenna B1A56:15 and B119F:15.

We have tried another more recent TCU module and checked GPS connections where known. I think I’m planning to check the connections in the roof lining tomorrow under the shark antenna.

I’ve gotta back off messaging my other helpful guy before I drive him crazy. He’s been in remote to forscan for hours during TCU firmware updates and diagnosis. - Thanks SaNdMaN
