I had a very similar experience as you!

I tried updating from Ford to the current 3.0. But then my screen went black and no other fixes worked.

What I found fixed it, was the CyanLabs files for mine to update to 3.4
I did their USB install. My thought is that the Ford update used all the memory in the system and it couldn’t complete. Something about the way Cyan Labs formatted/deleted the Ford shit and then installed seemed to clear mine right up.

Hope that helps. That’s how I fixed my mine with the exact issues you’re having but on my F-150.

Thanks for the reply. I will be doing the Cyanlabs update on the unit I replaced the “broken” unit with, soon. My feelings with regards to the Official Ford update are the same & as said, I will be following your advice.
