Curious if this has navigation or not

I bought this with some searching that it had Nav to replace my wife’s APIM that is locking up… plugged it in and doesn’t appear to. I think I already have my answer, just checking.

It does not show up in the Cyanlabs database.

Did some research and I think it may not have nav. This is from another post which backs that up.

Thank you, that appears to be the case. I found a source through Grok AI that said it was before purchasing. But I think it’s safe to say at this point it isn’t Nav. Your post and the fact I tried to update it and it red screened on Nav files and gave Nav malfunctioning errors when I turned on Nav with Forscan. Bummer, some of the APIM models are hard to tell I guess sometimes.

Never trust Ai. Especilly with car stuff. It’s just a glorified search engine that reads a condensed version of the results back to you and it does not know when it is wrong.

Not only does it not have NAV, it is a BCAR model APIM, FA-170-BCAR-HS. Although it is for an Escape, it has no nav.

What is the model and year of the vehicle you are putting a replacement APIM into?
Your sipnature says Escape but…
You should not place a BCAR APIM into a non-BCAR vehicle.

What is BCAR? The vehicle I’m working on is indeed a 2017 Escape Titanium. Supposedly the APIM I am asking about here is out of a 2018 Escape.

Yes, AI is kind of a tool but for sure kind of a fancy search engine… I checked the sources of the search and they indicated it was one with Nav… I digress it was wrong, they were wrong. So back on the hunt for an APIM (was trying to get a 2018.. late model Gen3) with Nav… built in Nav is nice for the wild occurrence of being in an area without coverage. Will keep the one I bought above in my wife’s car for a week or so before returning though to see if it solves her system lockup issues she was having.. the Escape is her car.

BCAR is the vehicle class that includes Escape manufactured by Ford. They have specific characteristics for the electrical and other systems that differ from the C1CMA and CGEA electrical architectures in vehicles. APIM’s can be set either way to cover all the systems but have to be specifically programmed to do so.
