Hello I used my friends usb to try to update sync 3 as he had already updated his fiesta and kuga with the same usb. Mid way through the update I was given a red screen and I now believe it was due to the fact that my fiesta sync is not equip with NAV hence why it’s failing to install as my friends vehicle has NAV. Screen is now stuck on ‘Please insert USB’ and is in a constant loop of failure. Any help would be much appreciated.
Just recreate the USB with the proper configuration and try again.
Thank you for the quick response, I wiped the drive and downloaded a fresh update from the Ford website using my vin number, plugged it in and was prompted with a red screen saying ‘error update packages not found’ I followed the instructions to the best of my ability. Will try again tomorrow however not looking promising

Was the original USB you tried made by Ford or Syn3Updater? Same question applies toe the USB you are trying to use now.

This is Syn3Updater forums, unless said otherwise we’ll assume updates are made using the tool, so keep that in mind from now on and provide details and context for us.
If it’s saying no packages are found, USB is not created correctly.
At this point, I need to ask you to give finer details, photos if you can, the contents of the USB drive, which version you had, which version you had and so on.

I think the original one was from Ford and my screen is now stuck on ‘please insert USB’ with an image of a mustang. If I download syn3updater to a fresh USB and plug it in would this fix my problem? Sorry for the confusion.
Nope, wasn’t from Ford… this was a reformat update. Since it was not configured for your vehicle, problems arise. A Ford update package will not work to recover. But, easy to fix…so we’ll recover the unit to Sync 3.3.19052, then you can update it to what you want using the Syn3 Updater after this.
To recover the APIM from a failed reformat installation follow the instructions below.
Download Sync 3.3.19052 from this website. Software Database - CyanLabs
You will need file 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ
Make a usb formatted EXFAT with the following:
In the root of the usb, place the reformat.lst file attached below.
reformat.lst (44 Bytes)
Create a SyncMyRide folder:
In the SyncMyRide folder, place 4U5T-14G381-AN_1552583626000.TAR.GZ. This is the Sync 3.3.19052 application.
Insert USB in the vehicle Sync USB port and wait for the installation to finish.
Reboot the Sync unit.
This will recover the unit to Sync 3.3.19052.
The Sync unit will only have the Sync app installed now, no voice files, maps, etc. At this point, you can now update or reformat the unit with the current Sync version with the appropriate files (and maps for NAV units). Use the Syn3 Updater and enter the current version as Sync 3.3.19052 along with your region information, etc.
DO NOT USE REFORMAT ON A 2020+ (MY20+) VEHICLE!

On the Fords website, there is an iso you can download to correct the radio. I saw it on there somewhere, but don’t remember where. But, it uses your VIN number to create a “restore” for your radio. I would try that.

You need to make a usb with the Syn3 Updater. Post the log file from the usb or Syn3 Updater here.
But it did recover, so it’s just getting the next update right.

You have a NON-NAV unit. You don’t have enough storage for all those files. Read this tutorial, it will explain what the issue is. It applies even though you are on 3.3…you need to only update the app, voice and dab files. I doubt you can fit GN.
