I upgraded to SYNC3 and Ive had some interesting issues. First the volume would be maxxed out all the time but someone here helped me modify the ACM so thats fine. I installed some new speakers and in trying to fade them in the controls I noticed those functions wont stay adjusted. Fade/Balance go to front left although the speaker are all playing equally and the EQ just resets to max after you adjust. Anybody have any idea? The APIM and ACD were from a Sony system and that was the original issue with the volume. I will attach current asbuilts for APIM and ACM.
Normally the place to start with the ACM when the donor has the Sony and you donât is to use your factory AB to overwrite the values in the ACM so it matches your car or to get the AB from an SE.
Whatâs the part number of the ACM?
There nothing really âspecialâ about the internals of the Sony ACM on the older ACMs, you just pic up an HD radio tuner IC in the US (off & on for this is controlled by the setting in the APIM). Newer units use an A2B for the Sony / B&O.
Would have to pull dash apart to get part number. The apim acm and hvac module all came out of a 2017 taurus limited.
What does ForScan show for the part number/assembly number?
I will look into it. Did not know forscan gave you that information. Do you know what area shows that?

In the pic of the ACM asbuilt it still shows the coding for fixed level outputs to a DSP.

If you are connecting to the ACM for speakers this is not right. This will cause the issue you are seeing with the fade and balance.
Try changing this to â0â.

Just so I understand, you are saying to change 727-01-01 12A0 to 1200? That snapshot is actually not the most recent its actually 12C0 currently. I changed it to 1200 but it still did the same thing so I switched it back. Any other suggestions. Either way I appreciate your time.
Go with the 1200 on the ACM but than on the APIM change the first digit from an A to 2. This will tell the APIM that you do not have a DSP. With it set as A than it thinks you have a DSP and does not communicate with the ACM correctly.

Also I weent through your APIM AB. There are still a bunch of items that you might want to consider changing. Not sure if your aware of this database.
I spent some time going thru that database. Some of it I dont understand but Im confused by
DE03/7D0-04-01: xx****-****xx-xxxx Its currently 0005 which is specific to taurus but it uses an external amp. Should I change it to another model with an internal amp?
Thats correct. The internal amp would be a Ford amp like Sony or B&O. Would be a unicorn if an FPIS had one unless you installed it.
Did the adjustment to the APIM AB help?
Changes all make sense. The only one I questioned was the heated/cooled seats one. Unless you installed them and wired them into the canbus I would leave that at none.
Suprised they did not order it with rear sensors. Did it have a backup camera?
Unfortunately no backup cam or sensors. I have an rca plug for the APIM but havent found a camera that works and have yet to buy an oem camera to try. I do have a set of 10way seats heated /cooled which im going to install. I have canbus lines ready to go and hopefully can get heat cool to work.
I bet the wiring is there for the camera at the plug. The only thing is the wiring for the camea will goto the rearview mirror so you would have to grab it by the BCM and run it the rest of the way over to the APIM.
I have done the heated and cooled seat conversion in a PIU and they work great. You will find you will need to run some good wire to them for power as that wont be there at the passenger side for sure.
