European TCU in US car v3

Hello,
I am having some troubles configuring a TCU from the Europe region on an imported vehicle.

Current situation:
I have a Ford Explorer 2022 Platinum imported from the US to Lithuania. The TCU module that came with it was NB5T-14G229-AA, we replaced it with an European one - LK3T-14G087-BD.

After looking at the ASBUILT database and checking what values needed to be changed, we did put the new module in factory mode and then back to
“waiting for auth”, but the problem is that while the Wi-Fi hotspot does indeed work and the module gets a signal, the connectivity settings cannot be accessed and the car doesn’t show the FordPass activation notification, even after restarting the apim and waiting.

Here’s what is shown in TCU monitoring:

Here’s the ASBUILT data in TCU:

Country code matches in TCU and APIM ASBUILTs

  1. Have you done a master reset of the APIM?
  2. the TCU authorizing has nothing to do with the hot spot, the hot spot function is based on having a cell data plan with an available carrier. If this came from a donor, you have to use the VIN of the donor.
  3. did you ever see the unit go into factory mode?

1.Yes, I did a master reset of the APIM before putting the TCU in factory mode.
2. I sadly do not have the VIN of the donor. What can I do in that case?
3. Yes.

Personally I’d use my phone for a hot spot instead of paying for a data plan for the TCU.

If the hot spot is enabled even without a data plan you should be able to connect to it over WiFi using the gateway IP to get into the built in web page. You’ll see the VIN there.

AFAIK Eu modems come with 5-years of free data plan. Everything is fine with the hotspot, I can browse the web with it, I just can’t get connectivity settings and fordpass to work. Going to the default gateway doesn’t bring up any page.

Have you tried doing a TCU reboot?

How close are you to the Russian border?
We had someone post with a similar issue a while back where the car couldn’t register and was in Russia, it cleared as soon as the car went into Belarus.
Ford has cur off server access from Russia due the the current sanctions.
