F150 2018 CarPlay USB Module

Hello, I recently got a 8” screen conversion from a 4.2” and I updated to sync 3.4. All works good!

I want CarPlay so I know I need..

  • Dual USB module

However, I noticed that module needs additional power some sort of 4 pin connector. I’ve tried looking online, but I can’t find a conversion cable or anything that’s fit my f150 2018 XLT.

I don’t really want to splice wires, as I’m not comfortable doing so.

Any recommendations and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ebay is full of adapters for this. It’s not specific to the F150 as they all use the same plug.

Maybe post a pic of what plug you have for your USB and I can help more.

I don’t have the module just yet, but here is a picture of the plug I’m referring too. The 4-pin connector, I’ve looked online and I’m not sure if the cable you posted would fit, or not sure where it would plug into.

The cable I posted will work fine on the USB hub side. It’s the truck side I wanted to see.

yeah on the truck side there isnt nothing that will connect to the cable, on the usb hub there is just a single cable going to the apim.

Im going off from memory and posts Ive seen online too.

So the 2 power wires are connected to the APIM just FYI. You may have to find pins to repin it.

They are not just a constant 12v FYI. You wont find a wire for sale that has pins for the 52 APIM plug.

You do not need the factory plug. You can solder directly to the cable.

  • Pin 1: +12V

  • Pin 4: Ground

On the 54-apim connector:

  • Pin 8: +12V power — YEL/BLU

  • Pin 37: Ground — BLK/GRY

  • Pin 38: Ground — WHT/BLU

Pin 8 is your +12V source. Pins 37 and 38 are both chassis grounds and can be used interchangeably. whats important its the usb cable that sends data

The little adapter is way easier, just match the Gen version to what you have.

The wiring should look like this.
