Of course they did, that’s their business.
Since the screen was upgraded from 4 to 8, Ford still thinks the screen is the OEM one, so they will send 4 inch software to it. That’s why you can’t use Ford’s upgrades anymore.
I will not silver plate it for you, but you will get the idea.
Sync3 installs updates by reading the autoinstall.lst file on the USB’s root. The packages referenced by the autoinstall.lst file must be located inside the SyncMyRide folder…
You will need 4 files: HN1T-14G381-SA (and the autoinstall.lst for it) and JR3T-14G381-AY (and it’s autoinstall.lst).
So, carefully read this post → 2016 Mustang Sync3 1.0 updated to 3.0 and no Apple Carplay! - #10 by SaNdMaN
That’s the process you need to follow with the packages I mentioned before (the referenced post is old so use the -AY package instead of the -AX). Those packages are for 8 inch screens.
The idea is to install the intermediate version 2.2.17011 which is the one that activates Car Play / Android Auto… This will fix your issue, since it’s for 8 inches… But since you are upgrading, go to the latest 3.0.23219 by installing the other package.
