Few post install questions

I was able to get my sync3 Nav APIM (KS7T-14G370-BCH) installed yesterday and updated the as built today with FORScan. I found the VIN for a similarly equipped 2016 F150 (mine is a 2015), downloaded the as built and tweaked it a bit. Everything seems to be working correctly, getting a USB error and no GPS, but I haven’t swapped the hub or the roof antenna yet. I have a few questions I’m hoping someone can answer.

  1. 7D0-01-01 lists Android Auto Projection Mode, what is this and should I enable it? Currently disabled.
  2. 7D0-01-01 lists WOW seat, what is this?
  3. 7D0-02-01 (as well as other places) mention B-Car, what is this?
  4. My APIM has a 7D0-09-* block, the as built I downloaded doesn’t have that block. Any pointers? I think I have it set to all 0s right now.
  5. When I wrote the new as built I got invalid check sums, do I need to update them or does it really matter?
  6. I have Nav Repeater set to Current at 7D0-01-02 and also went into the IPC and enabled it but still not seeing the option to turn it on. I saw on another post that I might have to change a few settings on the BCM. Any pointers?

The APIM is currently on 3.3.18201, using the donor VIN (from a Fusion) I see there is an update to 3.4.23188. Is there any benefit one way or the other to update to 3.4 via Ford or via Syn3 Updater tool? I’ll update the maps either way via Syn3 Updater. I saw mention of updating the firmware as well, how do I know if I’m on the latest firmware or not and is there a guide to do the update somewhere? Thanks in advance!

  1. I never seen AA projection mode enabled in any AB before
  2. BMax is a a non US/CA Vehicle
  3. The reason you have Blocks going to 7D0-09-01 is the difference in the firmware between a 2016 firmware and a 2019MY+ firmware. I would leave them be if everything is working correctly for the time being.
  4. You can never pull 3.4.23188 for your vehicle from Ford as it’s not supported on a 2015, you’re only update method is either the Updater or building the update USB by hand.
  5. I would leave the firmware completely alone

So at block 7D0-02-01 xxxx xxxx *x, it has B-car on or off. This is referring to a specific car model?

It’s referring to a platform type.
Just like 7D0-01-02 where it refers to HEV and FHEV, in this case it refers to which version of the Hybrid PowerFlow app is displayed and if the FHEV plug in charge shows. This also reserves space on the home screen for the Powerflow app button.
And 7D0-03-01 sets which car graphic to show in the Powerflow app.
To give an example of impact of a change, if someone with say an Escape HEV wants to put the buttons for their heated seats on the home screen they have to set the config to no HEV/PHEV in both places which then removes access to the Powerflow app.

I used the updater to update to 3.4 and install the latest maps. Im wondering though, is there a way to remove unused voice packages since I’m only going to be using the English instructions?

No, they’re part of the voices package.
In NA its Eng/FR/SPN only, there’s not a separate file for each one.

@neat
There are 3 files for the NA based nav, one for each language.
4U5T-14G422-CAN_1709610798000 (ENU)
4U5T-14G422-CBN_1709611416000 (SPM)
4U5T-14G422-CCN_1709611788000 (FRC)

The SPM and FRC are optional but there is not a method to uninstall them directly, other than reformat or the FMods uninstaller via JB.

There is no benefit to uninstalling these, however, as the Sync OS will not use the extra disk space as it will remain unallocated.

From your original post:

‘Android Auto Projection Mode Auxiliary Input’ is a legacy setting from Sync 2 and is by default enabled in Sync 2 and 3 according to the JSON output file. This is likely not applicable in Sync 3, but I have not heard of anyone testing it, etc. But it could be the basis of the video player mod from FMods.
‘WOW Seat’ - no idea. I have never found documentation on this.
B-Car is just the B car platform. There are specific settings for this.
7D0-09-* data will not be applicable to your vehicle unless your F-150 supports those features. These settings do not enable features, just lets you control or monitor existing ones.
Invalid checksums - let FORScan calculate the checksums and write them.
If you are looking for nav guidance in the IPC then enabling the nav repeater to ‘current’ should work as long as your vehicle supported nav from Sync 2. There is no adjustment for this in the BCM.

If you want to explore updating the firmware on the APIM, you will need a paid version of FORScan.
