Ford edge fordpass connect tcu

Hello, i have ford edge 2017, is possible to retrofit in TCU with 4g like on Mondeo/ focus etc.. So the remote start from ford app can work and other think? Thanks

It is. You will look for a J-series TCU. Search the topics, there are quite a few articles here.

So JX7T-14G229-DJ should be fine?

For EU, yes. It is labeled TCU-E2?

yes on photos is E2, does the edge 2017 have old 3G tcu ? or where its shold located ? if there is wire prepared ?
Thanks

So order this tcu, now i looking for others thinks, i have forscan with pay licence, can i really add the tcu in car via forscan and make the firmware edit? Somewhere i see thay its possible only via ucds. Thanks

Yes you should be able to do it with Forscan. I juat recently did this to my 2015 Mustang using Forscan . I had to update the calibration and strategy of the TCU with Forscan and make a few asbuilt edits. Activated the hotspot and activated Fordpass. Only issue I have is that I do not have remote start/unlock/lock on Fordpass. I do have everything else. I am not sure if this a Ford server exclusion and will never get those options or if there needs to be more asbuilt edits.

Hello, i check and my edge have HS3 on radio and apim, so i can connect it here? So i will not need downgrade firmware for working on hs2 or ms can?thanks

TCU’s work on ICAN/HS3. The L series TCU’s went to a new HS4 network.

Inorder J series so its on hs3 right, i found free connector with hs3, thats should work right?

Yes. Make sure to use twisted pair wiring, like CAT5 network wire, for the HS3-CAN connection. Pins 1 and 2.

Hello, so i have tcu already, and connector ready, i think i found the hs3 test connector, but now i need to found from where i can take 12v any idea please? And also there is not much space for the tcu… Better will be put the tcu back with tail tcu, but there is not hs3, just hs

So I used Cat6 cable for my install. One pair twisted wires for HS3, one pair for +12v and one pair for ground. I have a 2015 Mustang and the HS3 connector was driver side by GWM (OBD connector) and the power was on the passenger side BCM/fuse panel. I used a fuse tap in the fuse position that was normally used for a TCU if it had one and the ground was a stud near the BCM/fuse panel. This works quite well.

I would try to do something similar. Look at similar models that have a TCU and see where they get their power from. Depending on the type of fuse you might need to use a different fuse tap.

Hello, so i just connect the tcu to hs3 test connector, and for testing i power the tcu with 12v socket in the car, i enable the tcu in apim but there is not serial number, also in forscan i cant see the tcu, any idea what can be wrong?

You will need to scan for the TCU with a new FORScan profile. But, getting the TCU to show up on the APIM first. Check you CAN wiring, make sure it is not backwards. Can you post the info for the APIM…look in FORScan at the module tab and post that info.

New profile i do 3 times, i also delete all from forscan and nothing, i check the hs3 pins and its good but should i try change them? Also check the 12v power to unit. Can i do somethink bad to unit if i put them backward? Or on this connector there is can bus medium speed, should i try connect the tcu here?

Make sure the polarity is correct for the HS3 connection
