Ford Galaxy 2017 APIM error maybe

Hi,

I’m new here, but I don’t know that I write to good topic. Excuse me if I messed up it. So my problem is:
I have a Ford Galaxy TDCI 2017 and suddenly went blank the Instument Cluster and Sync also no power in USB. This happened in normal use. It was never updated yet. Forsan shows no HS3Can (and all of the modules missing which are on HS3Can).
If I disconnect APIM module main harness the HS3Can appear in Forscan and Instrument Cluster is works again.
Then I bought a new APIM from ebay. The seller ask my car VIN and he is programmed the APIM to my Car with Sync 3.4 software. Actually this APIM is coming from 2020 Mustang originally. Unfortunatelly it isn’t work in my car. It’s blink a very short after ignition on then went blank and Instrument Cluster also remain blank and no HS3Can. Of course if I disconnect the APIM the Instrument Cluster works again and the HS3Can appear. The seller told me that he verify the APIM before he send it to me. Both APIM are communicating with the Forscan.
Is it possible that the new APIM isn’t compatible with my car ?
My original APIM is : H2GT-14G370-KFA and the new is : LR3T-14G370-BLL.
I don’t know that the USB hub is works or not. Is the USB Hub need the APIM for work or APIM is working without USB ? I try to disconnect the USB - nothing changed.

Thank you in advance.

Hi.

So, based on your comment, both APIMs exhibit the same behavior when plugged in, right?. That is: IPC and Screen go black.

If that’s the case, I do not think your old APIM is the issue but rather a consequence.

Lets wait for others to comment since I do not know much about this stuff, but it does not look like it’s an issue with your APIM.

Not exactly same. The new one is Blink a short after ignition On the old one is absolute blank. The other errors are similar with Both APIM.
However I don’t know that the new APIM is really works or compatible with my car. Only the seller told me that is verified.

The new L series APIM is a 2020+ module just FYI.

What does it mean ? The “L” series APIM begins with “L” like this LR3T-14G370-BLL ? Is not compatible with my car ?

It should work just fine but you cannot reformat it as it is a 2020+ APIM. That may not be an issue for you with EU maps but if for some reason you had to reformat you cannot. I am not in the EU so I am not 100% on how stuff works over there so it’s just a warning/Reminder.

In your case the USB hub power runs off the APIM so if it is dead when the APIM is dead than that makes sense. I could not tell you what is wrong but I suspect a few things since both APIM’s had the same results. When the HS3 Network disappears when plugged in that makes sense when you have a short on that CanBus line. It is setup to shut down that line when this happens. The odd thing is this should be happening when it is unplugged also.

Thanks. Should APIM work with USB HUB is unplugged or fail ?

USB hub would not cause the APIM to not work. It would give you an error on the screen though.

APIMs are generally interchangeable, so that’s why I do not think your issue is based on the APIM itself as per my first message.

Do you have Forscan or/and a cheap adapter?.

Did the car get serviced for things out of the ordinary maintenance? If so, when?. Did you change anything on the car?.

Also make sure you are deleting your vehicle profile in Forscan every time you swap modules.

Right, he told us he has those. :man_facepalming:

Scan the vehicle for error codes and share the results.

Here are the DTC-s. It seems the only differences between connected two different APIM the HCM module error code, but I think it’s not relevant.

And you cleared all errors when changing components? DTCs stick, if the errors weren’t cleared then engine cycled and rescanned these errors mean nothing

Yes I cleared all errors and created a new profile always after change the components then I read the DTCs.

Is it possible that the new APIM ( LR3T-14G370-BLL - which is manufactured in 2020 ) not works with original LCD (MY2017) ?

Generally speaking, screens are interchangeable. MY20 screens can’t be reformated (or so I think), but once the unit it’s operational, it does not matter.

All year Sync 3 screens work with any Sync 3 APIM. It is the drivers in the APIM that may be an issue. This is usually solved by resetting the APIM (thru FORScan works easiest) and performing a power reset of the APIM and screen.
