I have a 2023 Ford Puma. Until 2024, I was always able to update the Sync system. Since 2025, it’s been a nightmare with the Ford website. It tells me maps are available, but always makes me download the same 49KB “Map_49471_Update.zip” file. I format my USB drive to exFAT, follow the instructions to install this small update (it installs very quickly in the car). I retrieve my *.xml file and upload it to the Ford website… And again, it offers me the same 49KB “Map_49471_Update.zip” file. I did this throughout 2025 and at the beginning of 2026… Still the same loop! Is there a way to update my maps, voices, etc., with your Sync 3 Updater software without breaking anything? If so, how do I do it? I have Sync 3.4.23188 (MY20).

The file they are giving you is the interrogator utility which you then upload the XML file back to Ford and their system will offer you map updates if you are eligible. If you think you are eligible, but the system is not offering you the updates, you will need to call the Sync support folks and ask them to resolve the issue.
On the other option, you cannot use the Syn3 Updater to update your maps. You cannot reformat a MY20+ APIM (yours is MY23) or it will brick the unit. Also, you would need a proper license only available from Ford to autoinstall the maps.

On the Ford update tracking website, when I enter my VIN, it tells me that a map update is available… But each time, it prompts me to download this small file (Interrogator Utility). I upload the XML file to the Ford website. And it prompts me to download this small file again. I’ve done this several times in 2025. It’s always the same loop. Here is my XML file.

Regarding the submission of my XML file (in my previous post), I would like to clarify that I have a European model.
You can just download the maps using the Syn3 Updater and use the AUTOINSTALL option to load them. Beware this will take about an hour with several reboots.
As far as the XML file…The APIM is MY20+, do not reformat the APIM.
The APIM is in good health, no issues.

Hello.
Using a USB SSD and simply turning on the vehicle’s ignition (without driving - the engine needs to be started), the update started at 3:11 PM and finished at 4:18 PM!
As you predicted, there were several restarts: the first at 3:33 PM, the second at 3:56 PM, and the last at 4:18 PM.
However, there’s no *.xml file at the end. Is this normal, or have I missed something?
How can I be sure everything installed correctly?

If you need the xml file then run the Interrogator Utility. This will also show you what is installed.
