Gemini / Sync3 Android Auto impact

Google has announced that Gemini will replace assistant in 2025. I have read that assistant will not be available on Android devices after the cut over.

My concern is that if Ford doesn’t make a Gemini friendly version of Android auto available for Sync3, there will be a loss a Android auto functionality with 3.4. Voice commands come to mind.

Anyone know if Ford plans further updates?

Since Sync 3.4 (Sync 3 in general) is pretty much a legacy platform for Ford, I would doubt that they will make changes to accommodate the new Gemini app environment, even if they could. Not saying they won’t but Sync 4 is the main platform at this point and any development has been toward that platform.

But there may not be any changes necessary if Gemini uses the same interface for AA/CP in the car environment.

Gemini will not replace Google Assistant on your other devices, even if you switch to use it as your mobile assistant. On other non-mobile devices, including Smart Displays, smart speakers, TVs, cars, smart watches, headphones, and earbuds with Google Assistant built in, and Pixel Tablets in locked mode, Google Assistant will continue to respond to “Hey Google.”
