I was recently able to retrofit Sync3 into my 2015 interceptor, the FCM has been replaced with the 8 inch screen. For the interceptors, the backup camera shows up in the reverse mirror. I have actually seen videos where the camera shows up in the 4” screen.
The sync harness came with a cable that would connect from the FCIM to a RCA connector. I don’t see any options in the APIM or BCM to switch the video feed over though
The camera would connect to the RCA cable, not the FCIM. You might need to remove the RCA connector and wiring and connect the original wiring into the Sync harness. @jmbach might be able to explain this better than I.
The RCA connecor feeds the video input of the APIM. In some instances, the RCA pins needs to be removed from the harness and the OEM video feed needs to be connected there.
I am not sure how your SYNC3 wiring harness is wired and if your original wiring harness had video feed on any of the pins.
So I see two options for you. If your original harness has video feeds, then run those to your SYNC3 harness replacing where the RCA connector was pinned. Other option is to tap into the video feed that goes to your mirror and run it to the RCA connector making sure you keep the polarity of the wires. Since that video feed is going to two different screens, the video may be not as bright. In that case, disconnect the mirror video feed.
I’m not even totally sure where the backup camera plugs into the car (does it go to BCM?) The wiring harness has 2 pins populated and connects to the connector that went to fcdim
The camera wires run down the left D pillar all the way up to the left A pillar. You can tap them there and run them to the APIM.
The plug you show is for the 4" screen that has the rear view camera hooked up to that. Odds are you don’t have video there since they did the review mirror as the Police would have equipment in the way of the 4" display. But if they do than bonus!
Hey, I’ve added a photo of the asbuilt and the camera screen. (when I peaked at the “easy mode” for the BCM ACM and APIM there was no camera setting to move to another screen, though wasn’t expecting to see it either.
