IPC firmware updated, struggling to setup 2015 Mondeo as it was

Hi all, really didn’t want to trouble anyone over this if I could manage it myself but I keep hitting dead ends. Before I went the route of possibly using my cars original AsBuilts, I just wanted to know if i’m missing something obvious (wouldnt surprise me!).

First a brief history:

2015 Mondeo MK5 SYNC2/reverse cam/sony stereo/dual zone climate/navigation.

Purchased and installed a SYNC 3 2019 screen+apim from aliexpress in 2021, sent vin and it came pre configured and all was well.

Used Cyanlabs to update to Sync3.4 successfully soon after.

Only issue I ever had since the upgrade was missing the TSR speed warnings from NAV on the IPC and not just from the camera. Managed without it as couldnt ever get it to work.

Recently I took the plunge with an appropriate adapter and updated the IPC firmware to enable the center screen speedometer along with ambient temp and the various other tweaks the update brings, all seemed well. I had hoped it might even fix my TSR issue but it didnt, and whilst looking through the settings i soon noticed that my SYNC3 screen now no longer functions and is even missing the heated front and rear screen icons and is laid out different. Also noticed the steering wheel controls no longer work for audio.

As far as I can tell everything else seems to be functioning ok but for the life of me I’ve yet to find the correct combination of settings to re-enable the correct setup for my car.

Im now worried the IPC firmware may not be compatible with my older hardware, is this possible? Are you able to downgrade firmwares in the same manner? I used Forscan to do the update for that.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated, I dont want to go writing original AsBuilt if it basically no longer applies to this IPC firmware assuming some sort of protocol has changed behind the scenes.

Thank you for any hints!

TSR requires an IPMA that has the correct hardware version in it, here in the US the Fusion never got TSR functionality.

From the factory, any vehicle that has TSR enabled has the NAV speed limit disabled on the Sync3 screen as the NAV database only has the speed limit info up to the date of the cutoff date (its not real time or updated till the next map release).

It makes sense that the nav database doesn’t prioritize over the camera and this is how it used to work on my car originally, it was sync 2 and thus used an se card for the database. Now it is a sync 3 APIM, I didn’t know if there was a switch I was missing that enabled the rest of the systems to correctly look up the same information.

I’m not too bothered with this if I can’t fix it as the camera is always preferable for up-to-date info. But now I need to correctly fix the steering wheel inputs and climate screen controls.
