IPC stopped working - Ford Mondeo/Taurus 2023

Hello everyone,

I recently attempted to update my 2023 Mondeo/Taurus APIM to the latest version 23335. Unfortunately, the update wasn’t appearing as an available option for the APIM, so I decided to update the PCM and IPC first, hoping it would prompt the APIM update afterward.

The PCM update went smoothly, and the car started and drove without any issues. However, when I proceeded to update the IPC, I encountered a major problem. Partway through the update, FDRS stopped working, displayed a communication error and I’m using Bosch MDI2 , and abruptly exited the process.

Now, my vehicle refuses to start, and the IPC display remains completely blank, though other functions seem to be working normally. I attempted to reconfigure the module, but after 40 minutes, there was no visible progress—just a progress bar that continuously resets with the message, “This module is being configured,” but nothing else happens.

I’m feeling quite stressed as I just got this car, and I’m at a loss for what to do next. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice on how to resolve this issue?

Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Your going to need FDRS with a good J2534 adapter to sort this out.
A two day license is $50 USD

What procedure I should do?
I’m using Bosch MDI 2

Depends on how badly the car is screwed up, this may ultimately require a trip to a dealer with them calling the Ford support hotline.

Thanks everyone for your input.
I managed to fix the issue by hooking up a battery charger after realizing that the Battery Management System (BMS) was shutting the car off once it reached 50% State of Charge (SoC). I also left the car overnight to allow it to reset, which enabled me to redo the update successfully the next day.

Appreciate all the help and suggestions!
