Major Surgery - Complete Engine Swap

I’m planning to pull the engine / transmission from a 2019 Fusion SE to put in a small lightweight hobby car. I anticipate keeping the sensors that detect gear selector position (automatic), gear selector motor, transmission, engine/turbo, a/c compressor, fuel system. I anticipate replacing the infotainment system, locks, cameras, collision avoidance, crash detection systems and likely many others I come across.

Anybody else done this? Words of warning or caution?

Research custom ECU’s

Just to make sure I understand your comment…

Do you mean a custom ECU (hardware) that would be built by adding all the components that intend to keep

OR

Do you mean customizing the existing ECU to remove functionality/ components that Im omitting?

Or something else :slightly_smiling_face:

A third party customisable ECU system
