No GPS signal after updating from 3.2.18124 to 3.4.21098

GPSM, black box inside the dash above the instrument cluster or center of the dash. It will have 4 or 5 wires(?). Just disconnect it and connect the shark fin back in.

Ok, guys. I’ve found a troubleshooting guide from Ford here. In my case, my GPS antenna went bad. Just left it here, guess it might be useful for anybody with the same issue.

Thanks for the info @JoSS .
Here is the specific GPS antenna troubleshooting for the APIM.

I USB upgraded my 2018 raptor to 21098 and lost GPS so I tried 21194 - made it worse. Now I not only have no GPS - the system thinks it is in Michigan somewhere.
fun…lots of fun.
Now what? I am really at a loss what to do. Can I load back to 3.3 version and keep the newest version of map via USB load?
my original version was 3.3.19068 NA17

thats just the default location, its not worse than before

See this thread:

I down graded to 3.3.19052 and still NO GPS
truck thinks ii is in Dearborn MI

What do the diagnostic screens tell you? (See above). Follow the pinpoint test above…You might try a reformat with new maps to see if that will clear the caches, etc.

up to the point of upgrading GPS worked fine.
I pulled the APIM disconn and verified all cabling…NPF
why would hardware ‘all of the sudden’ after an upgrade not work?
because it is not a hardware issue - its a GPS address issue in the programming.
downgraded to original settings - original map version
It looks good - works good - NO GPS

What do you see in Location Diagnostics screens? You need more than 3 satellites for GPS.

If you aren’t going to provide the information we requested we can’t help you. Yes it could be a programing issue but it won’t be the software as that isn’t what controls the GPS, that’s controlled on asbuilt so something is likely wrong in that.

Either way show your diagnostics

If you are referring to satellite test screens - they are all blank - no data
NO data for satellite settings for any version I have upgraded or downgraded
from 3.4 21194 - 21098 - 20196 - 3.3 19068

Your antenna is bad or the APIM is not supplying the correct voltage to the antenna. These readings are taken from the GPS receiver in the APIM module. They are only displayed on the Sync screen thru the diagnostic menus.

I am curious since the 2018 Raptors all come with the 4" screen, unless you have the 801a package, if you upgraded from that or did you have the Sync 3 originally?

It originally had SYNC 3 - 4" correct - w/o NAV - I did a 4dtech 8" w/ Nav and then I found out over 1 year later that the VIN does not allow FoMoCo web downloads for updating the maps…“I’m sorry your vehicle does not have Navigation”.
I talked to ford support - they said see your local dealer. Yeah NOT.
30 years in AuotTech/computer drags and 20+ as IT Admin - I don’t think so.
I will figure it out.

4DTech has a 1 Year warranty on the antenna if that helps. These are cheaply made antennas. I have had this one in my 2015 F150 for over 3 years, no issues.

well thank you but it is well over 1 year on 4d Tech conversion and they denied any liability of being able to update maps on their system. which is typical for today.
The truck already had factory GPS antenna that up to attempting map upgrade was working fine.
