Please help locating TCU (Telematics Control Unit) in EU Ford focus 2023

I intend to replace esim chip with regular local sim adapter. Please advise where TCU unit is located in ford focus 2023 (EU). Its not under glove box…

The TCU in a 2023 Ford Focus is typically located behind the passenger side rear trim panel behind the rear seat.

Is there some reason you expect it to work with a non-standard SIM?

well, many people did it with other Ford models. Unfortunately, after max 4h of inactivity, TCU enters sleep mode and replaced sim is not waking it.

For some reason a year ago Ford cancelled roaming in Ukraine and original e-sim that is on-chip in TCU is not connecting to my local carriers… I’m just eager to check out fordpass app.

Thanks, I looked it up in the lest side of the trunk before but could not find. Will give ot another try!

Thank uyou again for response. Double ckecked left side of the trunk panel - NOP, not there! Any other thoughts?

Thank you, I was assuming suggestion came from UK owner. Yes, I’ve checked both sides.
Left is totally empty, right has park assist , towing, and smth else, but no TCU.
Here’s photo of the right side.

So you are doing this…

Vehicle hotspot and FordPass works well.
You still need to have a TCU suitable for your country’s frequencies. For America - American TCU (TCU-B2 for example), for Europe - European TCU (TCU-E2 for example).
In addition, since the modem’s mobile number changes, Ford servers can no longer wake up the modem when a command from FordPass is executed, currently there is no way to fix this.

Meaning remote start does not work when the modem is sleeping, which is 4 hours after the last run.

Did you find your modem or is the vehicle not equipped?

Yes, exactly! The car has the genuine modem. The problem right now is that I can’t find it in easy-accessible places. Now I suppose it’s under central console, which I’m reluctant to remove (at the moment ) because of the risks to damage plastics - the job would reguire a lot of time and patience :slight_smile: on hold now.. So ftrustraiting that Ford is not providing roaming in Ukraine.
