Programming APIM after SYNC 3 upgrade

I upgraded my 2013 Ford Fusion from SYNC 1 to SYNC 3 and I’m confused on what I need to do with the donor VIN as-built data and my cars VIN as-built data. I have compared the as-built data from both cars and I see some differences with the APIM, but I don’t know what I need to change to program it for my car. The SYNC system shows the old cars VIN too. Is there a guide or something someone can link me to that would help me out? What do I need to program?

You can’t use your original VIN AB data, nor can you necessarily use the donor AB data.
What trim level is your 2013 and what is the MY/model/trim of the donor?

Well the 2013 is kind of a 1 off year for the Fusion, so some of the module logic is different from everything 2014MY forward.
Here’s the AB for a 2017 SE Hybrid, this should get you relatively close and will give you back the Hybrid Powerflow screens.
You can load this in with ForScan, if you don’t have NAV you’ll need to change 7D0-01-02
x0xx xxxx xx to keep from getting a NAV error.

Was this a 4" to 8" conversion as well or just a MFT to Sync3 conversion?

Thanks! It was a 4” to 8” conversion. I’m going to go program it now. Should I also look at updating the APIM firmware?

Leave the APIM firmware alone. that’s not where your problems are going to be.
Since this is a 2013 I would not be surprised if you have issues with the FCIM and the HVAC controls.
You’ll need to modify the APIM config for manual instead of auto controls, no dual climate and you may need an FCIM from a 2013-2015 (this is a maybe).
There’s a number of threads over on 2gfusions.net for the 4" to 8", I’m not sure if any dug deeply into doing this on a 2013.

Ok will do. Where would I find the FCIM for a 2013-2015? Do I just search like a junk yard site like https://www.car-part.com/ and find a VIN for that year then pull it from https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt? The climate controls all seem fine currently. I can control them on the screen or manually and my old bezel had automatic climate and dual climate. Do I also need to change the VIN somehow on this new SYNC system because the about settings page shows the donor cars VIN.

If everything is working correctly, leave it be.
Changing the VIN that is showing requires you to translate your VIN into HEX and hand enter it, personally its not worth the trouble.
