How to potentially recover from a bricked SeaGate GoFlex Home using a PL2303 or similiar serial adapter and PuTTY

Can this method be used to get back into a Seagate GoFlex Home after a password reset (via a 3 second pin hold) has been initiated? I’m trying to consolidate all our digital data. We used this GoFlex Home network drive a few years back. I’d like to get the data out but we forgot the UN and PW (had some idea, but tried multiple iterations to no avail). Unfortunately I tried to reset the password not knowing that Seagate had stopped supporting the service and we’re now locked out of it. Seagate tech support was no help. Very frustrating. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
