I am attempting to update the radio in my 2015 Mustang. The original radio is a FR3T-19C107-UE and planning to replace it with LR3T-19C107-CF from a 2022 Ford Mustang GT w/o premium audio.
Sync3 was previously installed and working with the original radio.
I did a similar upgrade for my 2019 Expedition successfully. Had to add a few wires and Asbuilt changes.
I am assuming a similar procedure.
Was looking at the connectors of the ACM and trying to compare them to the pinouts of a 2019 F150 and 2019 and 2020 Expedition.
My first attempt was adding
VMEG1 APIM pin 27 to ACM pin 5 CTRL MOD - BT/MM GW MOD DRDL_TX_+
VMEG2 APIM pin 28 to ACM pin 4 CTRL MOD - BT/MM GW MOD DRDL_TX_-
As the other connector was already populated. So assumed I do not need them.
With that I had no volume control but could turn the radio on and off as well as tune.
Pretty sure the pinouts are the same. I found where they added a second pair of wires on one of them but I would have to go back and look at the wire diagrams. I think that was a Sync4 system that added those.
So I am thinking it is mainly Asbuilt programming. The asbuilts are so widely different I am having a tough time trying to translate the old to the new.
Well after a lot of flipping screens comparing old ACM asbuilt, new ACM asbuilt, and scouring the asbuilt database, I cobbled together an asbuilt that seems to be working. I am able to adjust the sound and all looks like it is working. Will see how things go over time.
