SiriusXM upgrade for 2015 Mustang

Good afternoon everyone!

I am attempting to update the radio in my 2015 Mustang. The original radio is a FR3T-19C107-UE and planning to replace it with LR3T-19C107-CF from a 2022 Ford Mustang GT w/o premium audio.

Mustang ACM Original.abt (499 Bytes)

Sync3 was previously installed and working with the original radio.

I did a similar upgrade for my 2019 Expedition successfully. Had to add a few wires and Asbuilt changes.

I am assuming a similar procedure.

Was looking at the connectors of the ACM and trying to compare them to the pinouts of a 2019 F150 and 2019 and 2020 Expedition.

My first attempt was adding
VMEG1 APIM pin 27 to ACM pin 5 CTRL MOD - BT/MM GW MOD DRDL_TX_+
VMEG2 APIM pin 28 to ACM pin 4 CTRL MOD - BT/MM GW MOD DRDL_TX_-

As the other connector was already populated. So assumed I do not need them.

With that I had no volume control but could turn the radio on and off as well as tune.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Does the ACM have a Blue A2B connector?

No. Just XM antenna, radio antenna, and two connectors.

Pretty sure the pinouts are the same. I found where they added a second pair of wires on one of them but I would have to go back and look at the wire diagrams. I think that was a Sync4 system that added those.

I did not check the APIM connector but the ACM connector is already populated where the following connections need to be made.

VMEF7 APIM pin 51 to ACM pin 6 CTRL MOD - Audio Head Unit DRDL_TX_+
VMEF8 APIM pin 52 to ACM pin 19 CTRL MOD - Audio Head Unit DRDL_TX_-

So I am thinking it is mainly Asbuilt programming. The asbuilts are so widely different I am having a tough time trying to translate the old to the new.

The other problem you might run into is if that L series ACM is an X40 unit and you’re not using a K or L series APIM

Yea sadly there is not much info out there for the different models and calibrations.

Myself and @RD4154 have tested the x40 with APIM’s greatly and it only works with a K series APIM, With the right calibration and up.

Well after a lot of flipping screens comparing old ACM asbuilt, new ACM asbuilt, and scouring the asbuilt database, I cobbled together an asbuilt that seems to be working. I am able to adjust the sound and all looks like it is working. Will see how things go over time.

Nice. I put an ACM with ANC in my Expedition and the ACM AB from others and newer don’t seems to work at all. Glad you got yours figured out.

Sync 4, yes…

Post the asbuilt if you want I’ll take a look…

Here is the final. The first post has the original ACM asbuilt and the new ACM asbuilt.

Thank you.
