Sound issues, no Android auto, Ford Puma

Hi. I have a Ford Puma 1.0 ecoboost 22. My Sync 3 randomly turns off the sound. This is directly related to the temperature in the cabin. Higher temperature = more frequent sound switching off. The message Phone volume 18 appears. Android auto does not work. Has anyone had this? If it is a software error, can it be fixed?

SYNC Region: EU

Navigation Variant: Nav

Manufacturer Year: MY20

Install Type: OEM

Old SYNC Version: 3.0

New SYNC Version: 3.4.23188

Do you have a error message, if so what is it?
I don’t have any error message.

Update Method: Official Ford

If it gets worse with heat it sounds like a bad APIM.

Thank you for your answer. I really appreciate it. And I want to ask if there is any way to find out (confirm) this? I mean using Forscan. And if my Apim is broken, can it be repaired or replaced? And I don’t even know if my Sync3 should have Android auto.

It really has a direct connection with the interior heating. In a cold car, the radio plays perfectly. Then a message about the phone volume appears and the sound goes silent. In 1-10 minutes the sound returns. If this was caused by a bad update, is there anything that can be done about it? I’m at a loss.

I would say a trace fracture in the APIM but that would be the opposite symptoms.

What does trace fracture mean, please. And would replacing the entire Apim unit help? Or would some software intervention help?

It’s a physical fail.
A trace on a circuit board is a very, very thin piece of wire or foil used for a circuit path.

And can this trace fracture also cause Sync not to work via USB or BT and use mobile apps on the phone? The phone will start charging with USB, but nothing more

Yes, a trace fracture can do that but NO ONE ever said that’s what the problem is. In fact Trace fractures do the opposite. Things start to work when the metal warms up and expands causing it to reconnect and work so this is NOT your problem.

I think that since I registered here, I am on the right track. I am happy and thank you for any help. But back to the problem. So if it is not a fracture, then what is causing it. Could it have been caused by the incomplete update? And what can be done about it? I found an Apim for sale with the same type designation. Would that help?

This is why many shops just replace parts. You will spend too much time and money trying to figure this out.

Do you have any idea how to find out? I have no choice but to use the elimination method. Desperate people do desperate things. I’m not really an IT guy, but as one option I ordered a cable for the Forscan software. But I’ll have to learn how to do it. I would also like to add that the car is second-hand and was allegedly wrecked. The airbags have been replaced. I’m wondering if it has something to do with unprofessional repairs.

Could be anything, troubleshooting over the internet is like rolling dice.

I certainly understand that. But I assume that in such a community of experts there will be someone who has encountered a similar disorder.
