You have been warned.
If you are in a hurry for answers, go to a shop and spend some money for their service. This is free support, there is something called timezones and people have lives…
You will spend a lot of time and money to make that work in your truck. You will need adapter harness and likely have to replace or reprogram other modules.
I would advise you to return it and get a Sync 3 unit, which will practically plug and play.
These people selling the Sync 4 packages are leaving a lot of info out of their disclaimers. You will never get updates for it and it will never work as well as SYNC 3.
Thanks for the reply Chief and Bill! After reading that “Ordered a Sync 4 APIM..lets see what hapoens when it arrives” thread, it seemed like alot of work.
That is a fact. Very few of the Sync 4 upgrades work as well as the Sync 3 they replaced. Sync 4 is a different architecture and OS, which is not completely compatible with Sync 3 or earlier versions. When supplemented with AA or CP, Sync 3 is just as capable comparing apples to apples. Yes, Sync 4 has additional features for the newer vehicles, but those vehicles are engineered for it.
I get why people would want the wireless carplay it comes with. Everything else it comes with just seems to cause more problems for cars that did not come with Sync 4. So many subscriptions with Sync 4 also.
