Sync 3 from 3.0.23219 to 3.4

You’re getting an error when it tries to copy to USB.

  1. Reformat the USB as exFAT without the quick option checked so that the bad blocks are de-allocated
  2. USE a good quality USB (eg SanDisk, PNY, Lexar), some cheap ones overheat on extended file copies
  3. Try another USB port on the PC, you may have one which is badly worn.

Well i wrote an explanation to what was happening aswell as uploading them pics but the part i typed must have disappeared when i uploaded the pics, i seem to get that error every time i get to that exact file, done it a few times on the download process but now its doing it on the copy to usb

Even though when i open the file on the usb drive ot shows that its copied ok, but soon as i press ok the it aborts and leaves the usb blank

The checksum or md5 on the file doesn’t match so it deletes the file as corrupt.

So do you think what you said to do earlier will sort the problem, uncheck quick format?

Let’s put it this way.
I wouldn’t offer it if I didn’t think it was a possible solution and it’s not going to ā€œhurtā€ the drive to do it.
Just takes a little while for the reformat to complete.

I did what you said and everything ran much quicker but still failed to download when it got to that exact same file and aborted again. I’ve unchecked that file before pressing start this time to see if it makes any difference, think It’ll be a case of just giving up if doesnt work this time, i think this will be approx the 20th attempt, I’ll be gutted but if its not meant to be then so be it hahaha
I’ve even tried the manual way twice without success

Failing on the next one now

Clear/change the download directory and try bringing them down again.
What brand of USB drive is this and how old is it?
How old is this PC/Laptop and when was the last time a chkdsk was run?

I was using a Packard bell laptop…4 yrs old (I’m currently trying it on a HP compaq pc ive just borrowed… doesnt look very old). Ive used several usb sticks which were sandisks and an unknown name but now currently using a kingston 64gb. Laptop got regularly maintained at a computer shop.
Does the ā€˜allocation unit size’ when formatting make any difference, i just always leave it at 128kb

Click Restore Defaults within the formater and let windows handle the USB, within sync updater app settings configure number of connections to 1

Yep, it has connections set at 1 so i just leave it as is

I’m downloading the files to a folder on my desktop instead of the usb… do i extract them onto the usb once they’re all downloaded?

Let synupdater copy them to the USB and save time

Just ordered a SanDisk 64gb 3.0, going to have 1 last try with it

I did what you said and the download went without any errors when i changed the download directory, so now i have everything in a folder on my desktop instead of synupdater putting them on the stick… i copied them all over to the stick but got err04 in the car, what am i doing wrong? I still have it all in a folder on my desktop but how do i get them onto the stick correctly please?

This is clearly an issue with a BAD USB, i don’t know why people are saying to redownload files when the download phase is fine, it’s the copying phase that is failing, as per the logs/screenshots.

USE A BETTER DECENT USB

Well my new flashdrive arrived this morning, it is a sandisk 3.0 flair 64gb, i started a fresh process, from start to finish of it saying everything downloaded successfully and copied to the drive was about 1.30hrs. i went out and plugged it into the car and the system update started after a cpl seconds, the update went without any errors and took about 55 mins. I am absolutely over the moon. THANK YOU.!

Thank you for the feedback, we are glad it worked in the end.
Since this is not solved, I’m closing the thread.
