Sync 3 to Sync 4 swap

Hi, I upgraded my sync 3 to sync 4 screen and APIM. I have prowled the forums to see if I can find some changes in Forscan to make. However, I wasn’t able to have any luck. After running a VIN scan, I see that the APIM is from a Lincoln Navigator. I have made changes in Forscan and have some knowledge of using it, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im having the following issues with the swap;

  • HVAC fan speed is only controlled by the AUTO button and not by the knob on the screen.
  • Rear HVAC controls are non-functioning.
  • Volume is displayed at zero no matter what volume it is set to.
  • Fordpass is not working

There’s another thread on this site about doing a Sync4 mod to a Sync3 car, one of the common items is that Fordpass doesn’t work any longer.

Ford pass on a 2020 Explorer is on HS4 so you need to make sure you have an APIM that has the capability and that it is turned on in the AB.
