SYNC 4 APIM interchangeability

Hi all!
So I completed a Sync 4 swap on my 18 F250 XLT. Everything is functional that should be- until I cracked the screen. I replaced the screen only to now have random black screens. They resolve on their own within a few seconds. I figure the APIM I have is not compatible with the new screen? Lack of drivers maybe? If there’s no software fix for it, what is the correct APIM # to purchase? I am seeking a NON Nav unit. Please help! Thank you!

What screen di you purchase to replace the original. Be aware there are a LOT of second-hand screens flooding the market from China…

It should have had a Ford production sticker on the screen. I’m assuming it’s an 8" screen you need?

Also note that the screws that retain the screen to the mount can contact the LED board surface from the rear if they are too long and may cause issues with the screen and can damage the LED array. I have seen this in many of the screen swap kits lately.

Thank you for the response! My setup is a SYNC 4 12" swap, parts from fordsync4 originally. I hadn’t considered the screw length to be an issue but that would make sense! I don’t believe that to be my issue since a soft reset will temp. cure the glitch. I have since learned that I had a Chinese 8" APIM, and I believe that was the issue. I am now in progress of programming the new 12" APIM. Are you aware of what asbuilt line to modify to disable the NAV item in the lower bar? Thank you again for the insight.

The two are not interchangable.
For the NAV…

Disabling Connected Navigation:

  1. Access Settings: Press the Settings or Home icon on your vehicle’s SYNC screen.
  2. Navigate to Connectivity: Select Connectivity.
  3. Manage Connected Vehicle Features: Tap on Connected Vehicle Features.
  4. Turn off Data Sharing: Toggle the Share Vehicle Data slider to Off.
  5. Confirm: Press Continue on the confirmation prompt.
  6. Disable Navigation Services in Apps: Turn off navigation services, traffic, and personalization within each app, and delete any associated data.
